A Zenless Zone Zero release date is still not confirmed, but there’s plenty of speculation. A brand-new game from Hoyoverse, the creators of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail, was revealed and first announced in May 2022. More trailers have been released in that time, but while we don’t know when the game will come out, we know from the beta test it will be on mobile and PC at the least, and eventually PlayStation if Genshin is anything to go by.

It wouldn’t quite be Hoyoverse if it didn’t release another Gacha game, and Zenless Zone Zero is confirmed to be just that. Outside of Zenless Zone Zero, Hoyo’s Honkai Star Rail 1.3 is launching soon and Genshin Impact has new characters and a new area called Fontaine to explore.

Zenless Zone Zero release date speculation

Off the back of Zenless Zone Zero’s first reveal trailer in May 2022, we’re only now getting a bit more information. A new trailer was released during Hoyoverse’s show at Gamescom. While this trailer came with no concrete release date, we got a look at some cinematics and flashy combat gameplay.

As mentioned, there has been no announcement of a release date. We know that Zenless Zone Zero had a beta test in 2022, and this was available to PC and mobile users, which gives us a fairly clear indication as to which platforms Zenless Zone Zero will eventually be released on.

If we had to speculate on a release date, we would say it might land somewhere between 2024 and 2025, considering how beta testing has been done and more trailers are being released, we might be getting closer to an official release date – maybe even at the Tokyo Game Show if Hoyoverse will make an appearance.

What is Zenless Zone Zero?

Zenless Zone Zero is the latest free-to-play gacha game from Hoyoverse, the creators of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail. We don’t know the specifics of the gacha system and if we roll for characters in the same way as in Hoyo’s other games, but we can probably expect it to be fairly similar.

As with Genshin and Honkai, you get to choose a male or female avatar character at the start of Zenless Zone Zero. These characters are called the Proxy, and these will be the characters you use to interact with people and progress the story, much like the Traveler and the Trailblazer.

Set in the somewhat cyberpunk-esque streets of New Eridu, it looks like you can spend time with companions, complete quests, explore, and fight fearsome foes. The main quest of the game revolves around helping out the people of New Eridu and delving into areas called Hollows, which corrupt people and turn them into monsters.

What is Zenless Zone Zero coming out on?

If the release of Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail are anything to go by, we can expect that Zenless Zone Zero will launch on PC and mobile platforms. This claim is further supported by the beta test taking place on those two platforms.

Hoyoverse has done the same thing with Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail and with a clear preference for Sony. Genshin was released on PS4 and upgraded for PS5, while Honkai Star Rail has a PS5 release date all but locked in for the end of this year. Zenless Zone Zero might not initially launch on PS5, but we can probably expect it on iOS, Andriod, and PC to begin with.
