  • The M60 light machine gun has a 100-round magazine with which to lay down suppressing fire around mid-range.
  • Our suggested best build uses the following attachments: Lightweight Barrel, Superlight Grip, Reflex Sight, Fabric Grip, Lightweight Stock.

Sometimes all you need to win is even more firepower and light machine Guns, or LMGs, bring that in spades. They can be slow and unwieldy, but no sane person will walk into the hail of bullets these guns can unleash. The M60 is one of the most popular unlockable XDefiant LMGs, excelling at laying down punishing fire and shredding everything at mid-ranges. By using a good loadout for this weapon, you can accentuate its perks and offset many of its drawbacks.

Our best M60 build

Besides your main weapon, the M60, and its attachments, your loadout will also benefit from good picks for sidearm, device, and your chosen XDefiant Faction. We have found that the best attachment build for M60 focuses on improving its TTK speed through ADS and movement speed, while sacrificing a bit of range and recoil. Here’s what that build would look like:

With this build, we’re looking to increase the overall manoeuvrability of the LMG by increasing speed across the board. To that end, we use the Lightweight Barrel to improve ADS pullout time and movement speed, while sacrificing some range dropoff. The same goes for the front rail, where we opted for the Superlight Grip. Using Fabric Grip for rear grip functions in a similar way, while Lightweight Stock adds even more speed to the build. Lastly, we opted for Reflex Sight, but you can just as easily switch that to Quick Mag for faster reload speeds.

Best secondary weapon

We suggest that you use the D50 for your secondary weapon. This gun provides a good long-range option when you need to snipe down a target outside of the M60’s effective range. Alternatively, you can go for the 686 Magnum, which provides a similar function.

Best device choice

You should opt for a grenade to pair with the M60, specifically the devastating Sticky Grenade. However, even the default Frag Grenade will function well if you value the longer fuse time. Another option would be to use the Proximity Mine, which can help you lock down points.

Best faction for M60

Due to the weapon’s mid-range effectiveness, we suggest that you go all-in on aggression and pick the Cleaners. Their passive adds an extra oomph to your bullets, letting you whittle down enemies that come into your range. The ability choice is entirely up to your preference because both can work fairly well with the weapon.

Alternatively, the Phantoms are also a great choice to pair with the M60, especially if you use the deployable shield. Combine that with combo with the Proximity Mine, and you can quickly become an immovable object on any site.

How to unlock M60

You don’t start out with an M60 available to use right out of the gate. Instead, you will have to use the default LMG, M249. Use it to unlock the M60 by dealing 5000 damage to enemy equipment. Most commonly, these will be enemy shields and barriers, so make sure to shred them down to get access to M60. It may take a couple of matches to face enough of them to complete the objective, so keep looking for opportunities to do so.
