The Warlock class in WoW has been the go-to for players who want to deal high damage without getting their own hands dirty with physical weapons. However, not all of the Warlock specs are suitable for solo questing and solo leveling.
Despite that, people still tend to prefer leveling up their Warlock character without having to coordinate with any other player, neither in quests nor in raids. Because of this, we’re here to tell you which spec is the best to go for if you’d rather play on your own. Like we’ve done for Warlocks, you might also want to consider the best Mage spec too.
Naturally, before we tell you which spec is the most suitable, it’s very important that you learn the pros and cons of each of the three specs we’re about to list. Therefore, we’ll be going through all the Warlock specs, from least to most recommended.
Best Warlock Spec for Solo Leveling in Dragonflight
3. Destruction
Easily the least recommended spec when it comes to solo leveling as a Warlock in Dragonflight is Destruction. Perhaps the biggest limitation this spec has is how long its cast times are. Additionally, it’s very unlikely that your pet will be able to maintain aggro when you start chaining Chaos Bolts, which is the ability most Destruction Warlocks use.
If you do decide to go with this spec for solo leveling, however, then we highly recommend you pick Summon Voidwalker. This will take a lot of the pressure off of you and will also increase your chances of surviving alone.
2. Affliction
The Warlock spec taking second place on our list is Affliction. If this had been a general leveling up list instead of a solo leveling one, then this spec would have most likely been at number one because of how versatile it is in group play.
When it comes to solo leveling, however, Affliction’s specialization of DoT (Damage over time) spells is more of a disadvantage, as you’ll only have the demons you summon yourself to watch your back while your spells slowly eat away at the health of the enemies. Not only would it take too long to eliminate hordes of enemies, it would also put you in unnecessary danger due to this spec’s lack of good burst swarm damage abilities. On the other hand, in PvP Arenas you consider the best Mage specs instead.
1. Demonology
By far the best Warlock spec for solo leveling, even in Dragonflight, is Demonology. The two main reasons for this are that it has a wide selection of tanky demons to choose from that can defend you while you cast spells from afar. It also has an above average selection of self-healing spells you can use while staying behind, ensuring your chances of survivability are as high as possible.
The biggest upside of being a solo leveling Warlock with the Demonology spec is the use of the Felguard. This powerful minion is powerful enough to take on multiple mobs on its own, allowing you to handle additional groups of enemies. As a result, these Warlocks are able to complete most quests on their own.
One thing to keep in mind, though, is that Demonology is still a rather complicated spec to play as. This means you’ll still have to put in an ample amount of time and dedication to properly play as one.
