Will Hogwarts Legacy be free-roam?

With the release date of Hogwarts Legacy drawing nearer, fans have begun to wonder how much of the wizarding world they will be able to explore, more precisely, if the Hogwarts Legacy will be offering players the ability to roam freely. The game certainly has some incredibly iconic and interesting places to visit, so will you be able to kick up your broom and fly to your favorite place from the Harry Potter Series?

Can you roam freely in Hogwarts Legacy?

Yes, Hogwarts Legacy is an open-world game that offers players the chance to roam the map freely.  So all you Potterheads can take a sigh of relief since you’ll get to visit all the iconic places mentioned in the original books.

As confirmed from the gameplay trailers, players will be able to explore any location in Hogwarts Legacy by hopping onto their broomsticks or riding their fantastic beasts and flying over the wide landscape of the game. When asked about the free-roam features of their title, game director Alan Tew had this to say in an interview:

“When it comes to the open world, we just knew it wasn’t going to be enough to stare out of the windows of Hogwarts and wonder what it’s like out there.”

So, clearly, the developers understand what the player base wants and have worked hard to implement a free-roam environment.

What are the places you can visit in Hogwarts Legacy?

 While the extent of places you can visit freely in Hogwarts Legacy isn’t known yet, the developers have confirmed many of the locations that will be available for players to explore. Here is a list of all the places you will be able to visit in the game so far, as explained in the FAQs section of Hogwarts Legacy:

• Diagon Alley
• Explorable Dungeons & Vaults
• Forbidden Forest
• Hogsmeade
• Room of Requirement (with a customizable world inside)
• Small Wizarding Hamlets (Settlements) in the Countryside

These are just some of the locations that have been revealed in various gameplay trailers; the actual game could very possibly have much more available locales for players to visit. It’s even reported that players will be able to access and explore the entirety of Hogwarts Castle in the game, something which even the Harry Potter movies have failed to show.

One of the things that makes Hogwarts Legacy one of the most anticipated games this year is the fact that players will be able to explore many iconic locations by themselves since the game has a free-roam environment. While the exact number of places to be included in the game has not been released yet, it is safe to say that every location will have something wonderful in store!
