Forza Motorsport Multiplayer

First thing’s first, Forza Motorsport (2023) does in fact have multiplayer, but strictly online multiplayer. Split-screen or couch co-op are not available at launch. That being said, Multiplayer will require an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription, save one mode that we’ll talk about later. So let’s look at each of the multiplayer modes in Forza Motorsport.

Live Scheduled Races

The main multiplayer system in Forza Motorsport involves live races that are scheduled. These Featured races come in two flavors, Spec and Open. Spec races are highly limited races, where only every car in the race is a standardized tuning and build spec. This is to ensure that every racer has the same set up and skill is put on display. Open races are a bit looser on restrictions, only limiting racers to choose a car in a specific class.

In both cases, these races may include strategic elements, such as fuel management, tire wear and others. This mean that pitting may be necessary in races where these elements are at play. For each of these races, there will be practice and qualifying sessions prior to the race before. In the qualifying sessions, you’ll have a limited number of laps to post a qualifying time. This time will determine your placement on the grid for the actual race.

Before you get into these kinds of races though, there is a “qualifier series” which are a set series of races that are for folks who are just getting into the online multiplayer experience. These races are to allow new players to get used to the regulations that are in place, as well as getting their initial driver rating.

Private Multiplayer

Next, we have private multiplayer races. This is where a player can set up their own races with their own rule sets, and invite other players to participate. Players can set rules such as lap count, car class, time of day, and more. Now, these races don’t affect your driver rating, but you is a great way to get some practice in on tracks in different conditions.

Rivals

The final “multiplayer” method in Fozra Motorsport is Rivals. Rivals is the only mode that doesn’t require an Xbox Game Pass Core subscription to play. This is where players can race against ghosts of other players on specific car and track combos to get the best time.

And that’s all that we have for you on Forza Motorsport multiplayer. For more, check out our other Forza Motorsport guides, such as our guide to Forza Motorsport early access, our Forza Motorsports cars list, and our list of all achievements in Forza Motorsport.
