One of the many missions in the early section of The First Descendant requires you to open Encrypted Vaults. Magister’s Hidden Assets is a sub quest that doesn’t need to be cleared right away but it can be annoying to see it on your quest list as you go from one region to another. Here’s how you can clear the mission quickly.
How to complete Magister’s Hidden Assets
Magister’s Hidden Assets requires you to open two Encrypted Vaults with Code Analyzers. Think of the quest as an introduction to this reward system. Speaking to Freyna before the Vespers operation and after beating the Stunning Beauty Void Intercept boss will automatically give you this mission. This objective can be tracked down by using your Ecive scanner and moving towards any green square holograms or loud beeps you encounter. These chests come in different rarities and will require one of three items to open them:
- Code Analyzer
- Precision Code Analyzer
- Ultra-Precision Code Analyzer

If you still haven’t entered Vespers, you can find two vaults near the north section of Sterile Land’s Classified Area. The one to the left is on elevated terrain while the next one can be found under the piping. To get Analyzers, clear missions with high enemy density as foes drop them at random. Since you need to open two vaults of any kind, try opening ones that require the first type of Analyzer as they’re easier to find.
Approach a vault and interact with the right item to start a hacking minigame, requiring you to press the highlighted button whenever the pointer reaches a marked space. You’ll have to do this a couple of times on a timer and unsuccessful presses will reduce the time you have to hack through. And yes, you’ll lose the analyzer if you run out of time. Open the vault successfully and you’ll get rewards like Mixed Energy Residue. Opening two of these will let you complete the mission successfully.
