Eddy combos

The more you play, the more you’ll be able to pull off more powerful combos. But to get started, you should learn a few of his more simple bread and butter combos to get a feel for the character. Here are a few of our choices for Eddy beginner combos:

  • Combo 1: d/f3, 3, 3, (During Bananeira) 3, 3, 3, (During Negativa) 3, 3
  • Combo 2: WS2, u/f4, (During Negativa) 2, b1, WS1, 4, qcf1, d/b4, 4
  • Heat Dash Combo: d/f3, b3, 3, (During Negativa) 2, (During Heat) 4, 4f, b1, WS1, 4, qcf3, d/b4, 4

Eddy strategy

Eddy is one of the most mixup-heavy characters in the game. His Bananeira and Negativa stances give him access to plenty of 50/50s that can be used to poke or launch opponents. Like Azucena, being able to swap between your stances consistently will help you keep the pressure up, chipping away at your opponent and potentially forcing them into a mistake.

He has a decent poking game, especially when it comes to his low pokes. They’re a great way of trapping your opponent, but don’t overuse your lows as a good player can easily punish you for it with a parry. Instead, consider throwing in some movement options like Flic Flac or sidesteps to bait your opponent into making a mistake before punishing with one of his powerful launchers like his u/f4, 4 or d/f3.

In exchange for his great mixup potential, he won’t deliver you the kind of heavy combo damage that the likes of Reina or Paul will, but for patient and creative players he has massive potential. Keep your opponent guessing with 50/50s, bait whiffs with your evasive movement, and punish your opponent when they do make a mistake and you’ll be racking up wins in no time.
