As we approach the launch of Stellar Blade, plenty of discourse is popping up surrounding the main character and protagonist of the game. Whether these are constructive conversations or not, the main character of Stellar Blade has been plastered around by the game’s marketing team. This new PS5 exclusive from Korean studio Shift Up has certainly drawn a lot of attention, so let’s take a look at EVE and her role in Stellar Blade as we know so far.

EVE is the main protagonist of Stellar Blade. She’s a young woman who is part of a military unit called the Airborne Division.

EVE is the main character in Stellar Blade. EVE is a member of the 7th Airborne Squad, which seems like the military arm of a colony in space known as Mother Sphere. As an Airborne Squad Member, EVE is tasked with helping free the ruined and desolate Earth of monsters known as Naytiba.
As per information on the game’s PSN listing, Earth has been overrun by Naytiba and as such the setting takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth. EVE serves as our protagonist and we play as her throughout the game. If the demo is anything to go by, we will also meet other key characters who will help us in various ways.
What is EVE’s role in Stellar Blade?
As we see from the gameplay demo, EVE and the other Airborne Squad members are trying to reclaim Earth by force from the Naytibas. We also learn that many people no longer live on Earth and instead live on an off-world Colony in space. The demo tells us that people are still alive on the surface, but this can hardly be called living due to the conditions.
Ostensibly, EVE and the Airborne Squadron are tasked with reclaiming earth. Information about the game on the PSN is as follows: “Originating from the off-world Colony where the human race shelters, EVE’s arrival on Earth is a disaster. As the 7th Airborne Squad begins its operation to reclaim the planet from the Naytiba, a ferocious surprise attack leaves her unit decimated”.
These are the events of the demo that is currently available. Another character we see in the demo, Adam, eventually helps EVE – and later an engineer called Lily – all the while EVE is focused on destroying all the Naytiba on Earth.
Stellar Blade gameplay and combat
From the demo and the information on the PSN, we know that Stellar Blade is an action game that takes us through various levels. Interestingly, the PSN bills the game as a ‘semi-open world’, that we can explore. Whether this translates to big hub areas or something else remains to be seen, as we’ve only played the demo section which is a fixed level. We know there will also be side quests and exploring to do, along with uncovering potential secrets behind what happened on Earth to make it so inhospitable.
