Wondering how to sell survey data in Starfield? Bethesda’s sprawling space RPG presents you with a plethora of ways to get rich quick, but no method is arguably as lucrative – or legal – as selling the information you’ve gathered from surveying a planet.

Of course, most spacefarers often prefer the easier (and largely illegal) alternative of learning how to smuggle and sell contraband in Starfield instead. However, if you’re a law-abiding denizen of the Settled Systems, then here’s how you can avoid the wrath of local authorities by selling lawfully obtained survey data.

Where to sell survey data in Starfield?

You can sell survey data in Starfield by talking to Vladimir at The Eye, the space port found near Jemison in the Alpha Centauri system. Keep in mind, though, that you won’t immediately be able to access this area at the beginning of the game. You will need to start the Into the Unknown main quest first before you can dock at The Eye. Fortunately, this is one of the first quests you’re assigned at the start of the story, so you won’t have to wait too long before you can visit Vladimir.

Alternatively, you can also sell survey data to Trade Authority vendors and kiosks found throughout the Settled Systems. Based on our experience, though, Vladimir pays a larger amount of credits for the data you give him compared to the Trade Authority. With this in mind, we suggest handing it over to the former each time instead so you can earn the maximum amount of currency possible.

How to get survey data in Starfield?

To get survey data, you will need to scan all of the flora, fauna, and resources that a planet contains. As soon as you do, the specific planet’s survey data will appear in the Notes section of your inventory where you will also be able to see its potential value as well. Naturally, some locations will be much more difficult to survey than others. So if you want to quickly earn credits easily, we suggest heading to barren areas like Earth and Venus as these contain the least amount of objects to survey.
