With Star Wars Outlaws being a new game, it is bound to have issues. One issue that we came across during our first playthrough was stuttering. Stuttering is a common issue that games experience nowadays, especially when played on PC. Luckily, it isn’t the most difficult issue to deal with and you can typically alter a few settings to make the game run more smoothly. With that being said, let’s break down how to fix Star Wars Outlaws stuttering on PC.
Possible fixes for stuttering
There are multiple fixes you can try to aid the stuttering issues in Star Wars Outlaws. Some of these fixes may help with the game crashing as well but there are additional fixes you can try if you are having other issues with the game. Here are all of the fixes that we have tried to aid with stuttering in Star Wars Outlaws.
Switch the install location
The installation location matters when it comes to playing Star Wars Outlaws. Ubisoft recommends that you install the game on an SSD instead of an HDD. This is due to SDDs being a faster form of hard drive, allowing you to transfer the data required for the game at a faster rate. Doing this will also help prevent the game from crashing if you are having that issue as well.
Downloading the game to an SSD will also help improve loading times. When the game is downloaded to an HDD, the loading times average around one minute. When installed on an SSD, the loading times average around a few seconds.
Update your drivers
If changing the install location does not fix the stuttering issue, you may want to update your drivers. This can be done by using the Geforce Experience application on your PC if you use an NVidia graphics card. If you are using an AMD graphics card, you can go to the AMD website to download the latest drivers.
Lower the resolution
If your drivers are up to date and the install location is an SSD, you may want to also try lowering the resolution and the graphics quality. To do this, go into the in-game menu by pressing the start button or the ESC key. From there, make your way to the graphics menu. In this menu, change the graphics quality to low or medium. You can also try turning off motion blur in this menu as well. To change the resolution, you need to go to the video menu. This will allow you to change your in-game resolution and the framerate cap.

Wait for a patch
Unfortunately, not all issues can be resolved by your own actions. Sometimes, you need a little help from the developer. If you have tried all of the fixes above and nothing has worked, then you will probably need to wait for Ubisoft to release a new patch for Star Wars Outlaws to help with the stuttering. Luckily, you shouldn’t have to wait too long for a patch to be made.
