How to change primary residence in Star Citizen
First things first, head over to the spaceport you want to relocate to in-game, leave your ship and pop inside. Once you’re in, find your way to the spaceport’s hospital (for planets and moons) or medical clinic (for space stations). Inside here, you’ll want to look for the insurance booth.
Once you’ve found the booth, head over to the regeneration kiosk, a station with a screen that reads ‘Regeneration’. Click on it and you’ll receive two options on the screen. These are:
- Current Regen Location
- Change Your Preferred Regen Location?
Select ‘Change Your Preferred Regen Location?’. Next, head to the ‘Primary Residence Facility’ option, and you’ll see a button that says ‘Reset Location’. Select this button and your primary residence will be changed to your current spaceport.
Alex’s Advice
If you’re spending a lot of time in a certain area, make sure to set up a spawn location nearby. That way, if you die, you’ll be able to get back as quickly as possible. You can always change it back later.
Changing your primary residence like this means the next time you die, your spawn point is right here instead of at your previous location. Once you’ve done it, it will stay the same throughout any future sessions until you change it again. And with all changes requiring no aUEC whatsoever, you can do it as much as you like!
Where you set up your primary residence can also have a big impact on how you play the game. Orison on the planet Crusader and Area 18 on Arccorp are both high-tech cities, while somewhere like New Babbage on Microtech is a more natural, undeveloped planet. There’s no best place to have your spawn per se, so just choose what matters most to you.
Hopefully that helped you change primary location in Star Citizen. If you’re wanting to know does Star Citizen support VR, we’ve got a guide for that. And if you’re after a new ship, check out our guide to the Star Citizen Mercury Star Runner too.
