When you’re out exploring the Zone, gunning down bandits, and looting everything in sight, it can often feel like you’re only picking up broken weapons. You’ll become a little too accustomed to that dreaded red durability icon. Traders won’t buy them and repairing them at a Technician costs an arm and a leg in coupons. So, what should you do with this surplus of dud guns? In this guide, we’ll walk you through what to do with broken weapons in Stalker 2, but, a bit of a warning, the answer isn’t all that great.

What to do with ruined weapons in Stalker 2
As frustrating as it is, your best option is to unload them, stow away the ammo, then drop and get rid of any broken weapons you pick up. They serve no purpose other than to clog up your inventory and stash. They can’t be sold for coupons at any of the traders in major stalker camps like Zalissya and the Slag Heap. Only weapons with a yellow durability icon or no icon at all can be sold.
Bugged about not having any use for a hulking stash of broken weapons in the early game, I attempted to repair them then sell them, but the process simply isn’t worth it. You’ll end up spending more coupons on the repair that you’ll get back for selling them. It’s also time consuming – you have to dart between the Technician and a Trader, especially if you’re low on coupons and need to use the money from selling a weapon to fund the repair on the next one. It’s a tedious cycle that will leave you with less coupons that you had initially.
There is, however, one exception, and that is unique weapons or weapons you’ve upgraded heavily. The repair costs pay for themselves here in terms of how much you’ll use the gun. And, of course, you won’t be selling it, so it’s not about making a profit but having a gun that’s up to the task of keeping you safe in the Zone, especially in tougher later regions. Avoiding a jam or botched accuracy is worth every coupon you spend on repairs.
