If you’ve tuned into the myriad gameplay trailers that Insomniac Games’ have released so far, then you may be asking the same question that many other fans are: who is Venom in Spider-Man 2? The iconic, murderous Spider-Man villain has quickly become one of the most highly anticipated aspects of the sequel, so naturally, many are wondering what exactly his real in-game identity is.

Though the extraterrestrial creature has had a symbiotic relationship with different characters, like Eddie Brock, throughout the years, his in-game host may differ from the comics and movies. For this reason, we’ll be taking a look at who Venom is in the game below so you have an idea of what to expect ahead of the Spider-Man 2 release date.

Is Harry Osborn Venom in Spider-Man 2?

Yes, Harry Osborn will likely be Venom in Spider-Man 2. Though Insomniac Games hasn’t actually confirmed this at the time of writing, the game’s story trailer hinted at the symbiote’s true identity after one of the scenes saw Norman Osborn telling Harry: “I’m not going to lose you,” while a goo-like organism was floating in the background.

Another part of the preview also showed Harry Osborne walking with a cane, meaning that the heir of Oscorp is likely suffering from a debilitating disease in the game. And, since Venom gives its host the ability to heal themselves, this may have led to Norman willingly choosing to place his son into contact with the alien parasite.

Is Eddie Brock Venom in Spider-Man 2?

Although Eddie Brock is arguably the most popular Venom host in the Spider-Man franchise, he seems unlikely to be the bloodthirsty villain in the game. Brock hasn’t been shown in any of the trailers, indicating that the journalist-turned-Spider-Man-hater will not be involved in the story as the rampaging extraterrestrial creature. It’s currently unclear, though, whether a reference will be made to him at some point. But it is safe to assume for now that Eddie Brock will not be featured in the game in any capacity.

Is Flash Thompson Venom in Spider-Man 2?

Eugene “Flash” Thompson is another slightly infamous character in the franchise that fans have been speculating could become Venom in the game. Like Eddie Brock, however, Flash as a host seems highly unlikely as Peter Parker’s high school bully hasn’t been mentioned in any of the games so far. Nevertheless, he could eventually be featured as the Anti-Venom if Insomniac Games plans to introduce the symbiote anti-hero at some point.
