How To Get Gimmighoul
First of the three steps is to catch yourself a Gimmighoul. Roaming Gimmighouls are very common, but unfortunately, you cannot catch them in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Instead, you will have to search for Gimmighouls in their Chest form.
Treasure Chest Gimmighouls are found most commonly at the top of watch towers, but they can also be found in ruins. Also, Gimmighouls are commonly spotted near fast travel points as well.

How To Collect Gimmighoul Coins
Once you’ve captured your Gimmighoul, you’ll need to acquire Gimmighoul coins in order to evolve it. The Pokemon requires 999 coins to level up and then evolve into Gholdengo. There are multiple ways to get this done, all of which we’ve explained below:

Collect Coins From Roaming Gimmighouls
You can collect coins from Roaming Gimmighouls, they’ll usually give you anywhere between 1 to 5 coins, but if lady luck is on your side, you might even see 30 coins or more! Grab these coins whenever you spot them in the wild because even though they respawn fairly often, they do so in clever hiding spots and high places, making it a difficult ordeal to locate them.

Defeat Treasure Chest Gimmighouls
Coins can also be granted for defeating Gimmighouls in their chest form. We recommend searching the ruins southeast of the Lost Platos Pokemon Centre to find these chests of treasure.
Usually, that bags you around 50 coins each time you defeat them, but we’ve seen the coins range up to 200 as well! Albeit, anything above 60 coins is extremely rare, and changing your attacking style will have no effect on how many coins you get.
Visit NPC In Medali
The last way to get coins is to visit the NPC in Medali, every once in a while. He will give you coins based on when you last visited him. This is by far the easiest and most passive way to earn Gimmighoul coins.
How To Level Up Your Gimmighoul
Once you’ve collected 999 coins, which is the maximum amount you can hold at any given time, add a Gimmighoul into your party and level it up by doing either of these things:
- Use a Rare Candy
- Use an EXP Candy
- Battle with the Gimmighoul
After doing any of the above-mentioned tasks, your Gimmighoul will evolve into a Gholdengo and consume all the coins you just collected. Gholdengo has a full golden body with dreadlocks, and we think he looks dashing!
