One of the returning Pokemon with the Indigo Disk DLC is the Fighting-type Tyrogue. And while Tyrogue itself is nothing particularly special, its evolutions are some of the best Fighting-types around, but have some strange evolution requirements, so we’re here to tell you exactly what you need to know about how to evolve Tyrogue into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan and Hitmontop.
Be sure to check out how to get BP points in Pokemon Indigo Disk, as well as our Pokemon Indigo Disk Legendary list to see what Legendary Pokemon have returned with the DLC. But for now, let’s take a look at every way to evolve Tyrogue so you can get a Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop.
How to evolve Tyrogue in Pokemon Indigo Disk
Tyrogue will evolve at Level 20 into either Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop. However, the Pokemon it evolves into changes depending on your Tyrogue’s stats. Here is everything you need to know about how to evolve Tyrogue into each of its three forms.
To evolve Tyrogue into Hitmonlee, your Tyrogue needs to have a higher Attack stat than its Defense stat. If you’re specifically trying to get a Hitmonlee, you can use Attack-boosting items such as Protein on your Tyrogue to artificially boost its Attack stat early on, so you can make sure you get a Hitmonlee.
On the flip side, to evolve your Tyrogue into Hitmonchan, your Tyrogue needs to have a higher Defense stat than its Attack stat. Just like Hitmonlee, you can use Defense-boosting items such as Iron on your Tyrogue to boost its Defense stat and help you get that Hitmonchan.
The hardest evolution to obtain is Hitmontop. Unlike the other two, to evolve your Tyrogue into Hitmontop, you need to have your Attack and Defense stats exactly equal. If there’s even a single point of difference, you will receive either a Hitmonlee or a Hitmonchan. If you’re after a Hitmontop, keep a close eye on your Tyrogue’s stats when it levels up so you don’t accidentally evolve it into something else.
Where to catch Tyrogue in Pokemon Indigo Disk
You can find Tyrogue in the northeastern part of the Canyon Biome of the Terarium in Pokemon Indigo Disk. The Tyrogue here are generally between Levels 60-70.
That’s everything you need to know about how to evolve Tyrogue into Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan and Hitmontop. If you’re after more DLC guides, take a look at the Pokemon Indigo Disk starters, Pokemon Indigo Disk Pokedex, and how to change throwing style in Pokemon Indigo Disk too.
