With Season 9 of Overwatch 2 live, there’s plenty of new content for fans to enjoy. From the new Season 9 Battle Pass to rank up through, to the new skins available through the pass and the shop, there’s plenty of cosmetics. One of the most exciting, though, is the new Jade weapons. How do you get the new weapon skins? We’re here to show you how.
How to unlock Jade weapons in Overwatch 2
To get Jade weapons, players will need to purchase them for 3,000 Competitive Points in the Hero Gallery. This is similar to how players earn Golden weapons.
However, due to the Competitive Play rework, all players are starting Season 9 with no Competitive Points. All of their previous points have been converted to Legacy Competitive Points, which can still be used to purchase Golden weapons.
However, players will need to earn the new red Competitive Points to get Jade weapons.
How to earn new Competitive Points in Season 9
Players can earn red Competitive Points by playing Competitive matches in Season 9. You’ll earn points faster by winning games and performing well.
The new Competitive Points are earned the exact same way as the old ones – you need to participate in matches and play games to accumulate them. Earning 3,000 points is no easy feat, and will take some time to get enough to purchase the weapon skins.
Here’s how many points you earn per match:
- Win: grants 10 Competitive Points
- Draw: grants 5 Competitive Points
- Lose: grants 0 Competitive Points
You’ll also earn additional points as you fill out your Competitive Progression meter, with a bonus of 100 Competitive Points after earning 30.
Be prepared to put in time grinding out Competitive Play, as the Jade weapons are not easy to get a hold of. You’ll need to play tons of matches for a chance to get them.
Once you have 3,000 Competitive Points, head into the Hero Gallery and purchase the Jade weapon for the hero you want.
Not for everyone
Unfortunately, much like Golden weapons, you will need to earn 3,000 points for each Jade weapon you want to unlock. Purchasing one Jade weapon skin does not unlock them for all heroes. If you want to get them for two heroes, you need to spend 6,000, and so on.
