Overwatch 2 FTUE Starter Heroes

To accompany Overwatch 2’s switch to the free-to-play model, Blizzard has implemented what it calls the First Time User Experience (FTUE) for new players. It’s best seen as a tutorial and onboarding process bundled into one; the idea is to gradually ease players into the experience and combat toxicity. The FTUE comes with some major restrictions, though, not least a limited number of starter Overwatch 2 heroes.

Overwatch 2 FTUE Starter Heroes

Tank

These are the Tank Overwatch 2 heroes available to you straight away in FTUE when you start playing Overwatch 2 for the first time post-launch:

• Orisa
• Reinhardt
• Winston
• Zarya

Damage

These are the Damage heroes available to play for those playing Overwatch 2 for the first time post-launch:

• Pharah
• Reaper
• Soldier: 76
• Torbjorn
• Tracer
• Widowmaker

Support

These are the Support heroes available in the FTUE for first-time Overwatch 2 players:

• Lucio
• Mercy
• Moira

How to Unlock More Overwatch 2 FTUE Heroes

Though this roster is a far cry from the full 35 heroes available in Overwatch 2 and even the original Overwatch line-up, you can pick up more reasonably easily. You can unlock the original cast of Overwatch heroes by playing everything but Custom Games/Practice vs. AI games and completing Hero Challenges.

These challenges require completing a set number of games. You can view Hero Challenges by clicking on Challenges in the main menu, then the Hero tab at the top of your screen. For ease, we’ve included all the heroes available in the Overwatch 2 FTUE below:
