What does Ripple in Spacetime detected nearby mean
The Ripple in Spacetime detected nearby message means that there is one of several things nearby:
- Player whisper
- Loot crate or Morphic Crate
- Deviant
Player Whispers
A Whisper is a message left by a fellow player, represented by a blue and yellow strand on the ground. These are player generated and work similar to those found in FromSoft games and players can interact with them and leave a positive or negative rating. They tend to include random nonsense, jokes and trolls, tips about nearby crates or points of interest, and warnings about enemies and other dangers. Tap Q to trigger Spacetime near one and you’ll often see a player’s echo, a spectre-like representation left by the person that penned the message.
Loot crates and Morphic Crates
The message can also mean that a crate is nearby, something far more useful to the player. These range from standard gear, weapon, and Mystical Crates to the more exotic Morphic Crates. The latter tend to have better loot, but you’ll need to track them down and use Spacetime to reveal them then defeat them to score the loot. Deviant
Rarer is that the message is a warning that a Deviant is nearby. Deviants are little critters you can capture then put to work in your base or use in combat, with each one offering specific benefits. For example, the Flame Essence boosts Furnace efficiency.
Nine times out of ten, the message points to a nearby player Whisper. But it’s still worth investigating in case it’s a chest, especially if you’re trying to 100% a settlement, or your backpack is flashing, which means a Morphic Crate isn’t far away.
