Time is catching up with old Mae and she isn’t as sharp as she used to be. Her diary mentions a code, well part of it at least, that leads you on a quest to track down a crate in a top secret Rosetta facility in the Red Sands.

We’ll walk you through how to complete A Family Legacy quest and locate the chest that the Rosetta Researcher’s Map points to. It’s another treasure hunt-style quest similar to the Boy Wanna Have Fun and the Lost in Madness side quests.

Where to start A Family Legacy quest

To start A Family Legacy quest, go to the settlement of Evergreen in the Red Sands region. It’s more or less sandwiched between Blackfell to the north and Greywater Camp to the south. As you enter the town, the quest will pop up on screen, tasking you with checking Mae’s diary in the house.

The house in question is the northernmost house in Evergreen, which we’ve marked in the second image above. There’s also a quest marker to lead you right to the diary sitting on the desk on the first floor. The diary mentions an access card, suggesting that it might be useful to get into the Alternate Reality Research Institute.

Brick puzzle solution

The quest then leads you to another room on the ground floor where you’ll need to investigate and rotate a set of three children’s toy bricks. Next to them is another entry in Mae’s diary that mentions a password, but it’s only partial starting with U9D.

On closer inspection, the last two bricks can’t be moved and are stuck on N and Z – the last part of the passcode. The task here is to move the first brick so that it shows U, the second to 6 (the brick is upside down so a 9 technically), and the last one to D.

Solving the puzzle reveals Mae’s Lockbox. Inside, you’ll find the Rosetta Researcher’s Map, which when opened in your inventory shows the image above and the location of the Alternate Reality Research Institute mentioned previously.

Alternate Reality Research Institute treasure location

You’ll find the Alternate Reality Research Institute in the east of the Red Sands as marked on the map above. When you reach the institute, head for the southernmost building with the white angled supports jutting out from the bottom.

Make your way up the stairs on the left, then press on upwards to the third floor where you’ll come to a black elevator with the Rosetta logo above it. Take a left, then continue up the stairs in the next room and take a right. Follow the corridor into a lab research area.

Make your way over to the last room on the right and you’ll find the Rosetta Safe on the floor near some storage cabinets. Loot the chest to complete A Family Legacy quest and earn Battle Pass Exp, Exp, Energy Link, Stellar Planula, and Eclipse Cortex Lv. 3.
