Need to learn how to avoid hits in NHL 24? NHL 24 has finally arrived and we can’t wait to see EA’s new innovations light up the rink in this year’s game.

Many fans are playing the game already through NHL 24 early access. If not, the full NHL 24 release date is following very soon.

Whilst hockey involves a certain amount of elegance, you can be sure that you’ll be sent crashing down to earth with a bang once a player hits you into the side.

To help with this, we’ve created a guide that should help you avoid some heavy blows and keep your star skating forward.

How to avoid hits in NHL 24

A big part of NHL 24 is not only scoring but finding ways to prevent your opponent from doing so.

While you may revel in the chance to smack your opponent into the barricade, it’s vital that you remember that you are also a target.

This means that you will often find yourself in a position where opposition players will come baring towards you, hoping to knock you off your stride.

There isn’t a simple way to avoid these hits, but there are little tricks that you can perform that can help you spin away and avoid contact.

In order to avoid hits in NHL 24:

  • When an opponent is running towards you, please downwards on the left analogue stick and press LT (Xbox)
  • When an opponent is running towards you, please downwards on the left analogue stick and press L2 (Xbox)

This will effectively see your player stop in their tracks, instead changing direction in order to avoid the hit.

Small movements like this are vital to helping you slink away from opposition players, as you can quickly change direction and continue moving forward.

It will take some time to get to grips with this mechanism as it isn’t easy to learn.

If you’re a beginner, or simply someone looking to improve, we’d recommend heading to the free skate mode in NHL 24 to help you better round out your dodging skills.

Some of the best at doing this are your centers. Find out all the NHL 24 best players including the best centers in NHL 24.
