NBA 2K24 allows you to mold your MyPLAYER in the image of a real NBA star if you so choose. There are builds you can emulate as well as jump shots you can take from players, even blending multiple shots into one. Free throws aren’t as complex. The animation is straightforward from one player, but you can choose from a long list of players. Here are the best free throws in NBA 2K24.

What are the best free throw animations in NBA 2K24?

The best free throw animation in NBA 2K24 belongs to Stephen Curry. One of the best shooting players in NBA history has arguably the best free throw motion as well. It’s quick, smooth, and effective. This does have a relatively quick release, so you’ll need to have good reflexes and button mastery when using it. Though I am playing as a sizeable shooting guard in my playthrough, I chose this free throw. It’s quick and helps me make more shots than I miss at the stripe.

His backcourt-mate Klay Thompson has another excellent free throw. It’s a little slower than Curry’s, so it might be more suited to players who aren’t as quick with the release. Other really good shot animations for free throws include:

When choosing the best free throw animation in NBA 2K24, it all comes down to preference. There are some things to consider. Generally, it’s better to avoid big man animations if you’re a guard or forward. Those animations, for power forwards and centers, are slower and clunkier.

They’re great at dunking and making a layup, but they’re not known for their abilities at the stripe. Point guard and shooting guard players usually are and their animations are tailored to be smoother at the line.

There is some irony in the fact that you can equip a Shaquille O’Neal animation on a perimeter player and make 90% of your free throws with a career 52.7% free throw shooter. As always, the animation matters less than the free throw attribute on your MyPLAYER. User timing on the shot meter matters more, too.
