As you battle hordes of the undead in MW3 zombies, you’ll need to have lots of ammo to survive or risk dying at the hands of a Hellhound zombie dog. However, running out of ammo doesn’t always leave you without external help as you can get a Sentry Gun in MW3 zombies.
A Sentry Gun will help you immensely against zombies by not only putting them down and giving you lots of XP but also buys you some time to run around to find weapons and other important items to loot around the area. So before we dive into getting a Sentry Gun, we suggest you go over our MW3 zombies tips and tricks to help you get started on how best to survive against the undead. How to get Sentry Gun in MW3 Zombies
You can get a Sentry Gun by purchasing one for 2,000 Essence at the various Buy Stations found within medium or high-threat level areas in Urzikstan. There are no Sentry Guns in the low-level threat zone where you’re dropped off, so if you need a Sentry Gun you’ll have to walk or drive towards the tougher zones.
To get to a medium threat level area, simply open your map and head into the orange-marked areas of the map. These parts of the map contain mostly level 2 zombies that can be tough to put down, so there will be Sentry Guns around the area to help you out. To enter a high-level threat zone, head into the red-coloured area on your map where the toughest zombies reside.
Where to find a Sentry Gun in MW3 Zombies
Unlike WallBuys locations, Sentry Guns are not highlighted on the map, so you can’t pinpoint your way towards one. Rather, they are randomly placed in loot caches and in certain rewards for contracts. However, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find a Sentry Gun in one of the many Buy Stations across Urzikstan and if you don’t, well, sometimes you just need a bit of luck.
You’re going to need the Sentry Gun to complete specific missions in the zombies campaign mode. In the Act One Tier 5 mission ‘Hands Off’ for instance, you’ll have to use a Sentry Gun to face the zombies that’ll come at you. The Sentry Gun will almost always come in handy if you plan on stepping into the red zone and facing the undead all by yourself.
How to use the Sentry Gun in MW3 Zombies
Once you’ve gotten your hands on a Sentry Gun, simply tap the killstreak button and the Sentry Gun icon will become visible on the right side of the screen with the key beneath it. Now tap on it and then place the Sentry Gun in the direction you’d like it to face. It’s almost the same as how to activate a Turret.

The undead can follow all the way into a building but will find it hard to follow you all the way to the top of one. So when placing your Sentry Gun, place it on top of buildings where it can easily target zombies and you can get more than 150 kills by doing this in a medium-threat zone.
The undead can come at you from any angle, so if your Sentry Gun is facing one direction and zombies are coming at you from another, you’ll have to go back to your Sentry Gun and rotate it to face the direction of the zombies. Simply tap on the interact button once you’re near the Sentry to pick it up, then place it back down afterwards.
If properly placed, getting 20 Sentry Gun kills shouldn’t take too long, which is one of the main tasks to complete the Hands Off mission in MW3 zombies. One trick I used was to place the Sentry Gun close to a 3-story building with lots of stairs. That way if zombies approach in dozens in such that the Sentry Gun can’t take them all out, you can make a run for it through the buildings and jump out with your parachute.
