Taping into LEGO Fortnite’s robust crafting system, players blend their creativity and survival skills in its lively universe to get ahead. In each update, the game adds a wealth of new craftable objects, from simple tools like weapons to elaborate buildings and vehicles, including pressure plates and balloons. A highly-anticipated addition among them was the Power Cell, a crucial component that has become a necessary power source for players if they want to continue exploring their world in LEGO Fortnite.
How to craft a Power Cell in LEGO Fortnite
Crafting a Power Cell in LEGO Fortnite is no easy task since it requires some crucial components you need to gather around in the world as you explore. Follow the exact steps mentioned below if you want to make a Power Cell.
Step 1 – Building the Compost Bin
The first step towards building a Power Cell is by crafting a Compost Bin. To do so, you’ll need to have reached Level 2 with your Village. Once done, gather the materials in the table below to craft the Compost Bin. We’ve also marked how to get each of the materials:

Once you have all the materials, head over to the Utility section of the building menu, use the collected materials, and click on the Compost Bin icon to craft it. Now that you have that sorted, let’s move on to the next step which is creating Biomass.
Step 2 – Creating Biomass for energy
Biomass is a crucial component in generating energy inside a Power Cell. To craft Biomass, gather organic materials like Meat, Bones, etc., then place them inside the Composter Queue, and wait for them to be processed. Over time this will convert into Biomass and you can then press the Take All button to store it in your inventory. Once your Biomass is crafted, you’ll need 50 units for one Power Cell, so you might need to repeat this process or use multiple bins at a time.
Step 3 – Crafting Glass
This is the toughest step as Glass is a rare resource to craft and find. To craft it, you’ll need to gather some rare materials and build another machine. Here’s a table explaining the recipe for crafting Glass:

Once you have these items, you’ll need to build a Metal Smelter. To access it, make sure your village is at least Level 9 before you go ahead gathering resources to build it. Making a Metal Smelter requires the following resources:

After your smelter is built, combine 2 Sand and 1 Brightcore to produce 2 pieces of Glass. You’ll need 6 pieces in total, so repeat this step three times.
Step 4 – Crafting the Power Cell
Now that you have all the right ingredients to craft the Power Cell, it’s important to know that your Crafting Bench needs to be at an Uncommon level or higher. As soon as you’ve got that in place, head over to your Crafting Bench, and select the Power Cell icon.
To craft a Power Cell, you’ll need 50 Biomass and 6 Glass pieces. You can craft multiple cells at a time once you have enough resources.
Where are Power Cells used in LEGO Fortnite?
Power Cells are used to power vehicles in LEGO Fortnite. Depending on your vehicle, you’ll need to attach a Power Center to use a cell. There are Small, Medium, and Large Power Centers, each requiring different numbers of Power Cells:
- Small Power Center – 1 Power Cell
- Medium Power Center – 2 Power Cells
- Large Power Center – 3 Power Cells
Once the Power Center is built on your vehicle, interact with it to insert the Power Cell. This will activate your vehicle, allowing you to drive or fly across your world.
