The Crafting Bench in LEGO Fortnite is one of the most important structures in the game and is one of the first things you need to build to get your LEGO Fortnite village going. Due to how much you’ll use it, learning how to build and upgrade the Crafting Bench will help you get access to better tools and armour. Even after the first one, you will likely be making many over the course of your game for your various bases, forming the foundation of any building and crafting you want to do.

To build a crafting bench, you will need: Wood x3 and Granite x5.
How to build a Crafting Bench in LEGO Fortnite
To build the crafting bench, you need 3x Wood and 5x Granite. These materials can be picked up in great quantity, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding plenty of these items. To get Wood, all you need to do is punch small trees until they break or drop pieces of Wood.
Wood can also be obtained by picking up branches that are on the floor already, randomly spawning on the ground. Granite can also be gathered the same way. Small rocks will randomly spawn around the world and they are shown as small grey rocks. With these two ingredients gathered, go into the build menu and place your Crafting Bench. It can be built in any area, so long as there is nothing blocking it such as a bush, rock on the ground, or tree.
Now you’ve got a Crafting Bench, you can use it to start making basic tools, weapons, and other survival equipment to help you brave the wilds. More importantly, the Crafting Bench can be upgraded, letting you access even better stuff.
Can you use the Crafting Bench in the rain?
Like all Work Stations, the Crafting Bench cannot be used if it is exposed to the rain when it starts pouring. If you want to use it during rain, the Crafting Bench needs to have the top of it covered by a ceiling but does not need to be fully inside of a structure.
How to upgrade the Crafting Bench in LEGO Fortnite
To upgrade the Crafting Bench you need to stand next to it and interact with the bench. In this menu, there will be another page that says ‘Bench Upgrade’, switch over to this tab. This tab displays the materials you need to improve your bench to the next level. Upgrading the bench will grant access to higher-rarity craftable tools. These upgrades require different resources and the bench can be upgraded three times until you have an Epic-rarity Crafting Bench, which can craft the highest rarity items.

You need a Crafting Bench at all times, as it is the only way to craft tools such as Pickaxes, Swords, and Axes which are needed to gather higher rarity resources to upgrade your village. As you might expect, getting to the final upgrade tier for the Crafting Bench is no mean feat, and you will need to do plenty of exploring and gathering to get the required resources.
