How to craft a Compost Bin in LEGO Fortnite
The Compost Bin can be found in your craft menu under the “Utility” tab in the “Stations” section. You will need to first build a Lumber Mill in your village, as this is how you unlock the recipe for a Compost Bin. The Lumber Mill is one of the first buildable structures you can make, only requiring a bit of Wood and Granite, so this should be easy to accomplish. You will need these supplies to craft the Compost Bin:
- Five Planks
- Two pieces of Soil
- One Sand
- Three Fertilizer
If you are looking for Sand and Soil, all you need to do is equip a Shovel and start digging. Meanwhile, Planks are made from Wood. Simply take the Wood to the Lumber Mill and then refine the Wood into Planks.
Only certain items can be put into the Compost Bin, including all food items, bones, and all materials dropped from creatures, such as Wool and Wolf Claws. When you place them into the Compost Bin, it will begin to transmute them.

How to use the Compost Bin
You can process ten items at a time and put up to five stacks in the Compost Bin at once. It takes about five minutes in real time for an item to be fully processed. The Compost Bin will create Fertilizer, Soil, and Biomass. However, the exact items you receive are completely random. No matter what item you put in the Compost Bin, it will spit out a random amount of those items. Once items are finished being processed, they will be in the Compost Bin waiting to be taken out.
Compost Bins are important as they are the main way to obtain Biomass. This is used to create Power Cells at an uncommon or higher Crafting Bench which is required to run Power Centers for your vehicles, enabling them to drive. Fertilizer and Soil are also useful, but primarily, you want to use Compost Bins to generate Biomass as it cannot be found in other ways like Fertilizer and Soil can.
