The medieval world of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is home to a vast number of people, many of which you can meet and interact with. Some offer quests, trade opportunities, a chance to fight, or simply a conversation. And some of them are simply odd, such as the Wanreding Drunk of Semine. If you’re wondering what to do with the Wandering Drunk in KCD2, here’s what you need to know.

What is the location and purpose of the Wandering Drunk?

The Wandering Drunk can be found in an abandoned barn just north of Semine, tucked off the main roads. While riding north, you’ll meet another NPC who warns you about a drunken vagabond in the area who’s known to attack anyone who gets too close. He’ll even be pointed out on your map once you get closer.

Once you reach the abandoned barn (more of a shack now, really), you’ll find a beggar NPC sitting outside. If you approach him, he’ll turn hostile, and unfortunately, there’s no peaceful way to deal with him. Your only choice is to fight him – either kill him or knock him out. The best you can do, if so inclined, is to fight him unarmed and make him yield, but that outcome is fairly hard to get without knocking him out first. Afterwards, you can loot his body (dead or unconscious). Here’s what you’ll find:

  • A gemstone ring
  • A set of keys
  • 2.7 Groschen

Pretty slim pickings, but there’s more to it. For one, the ring can be sold for a decent price. Next, if you take the time to enter and explore the barn, you’ll also find a few other items that might be useful later or worth selling.

What are the keys for?

These keys aren’t used for anything in the game, as far as we can tell. The game doesn’t provide any clear information about the Wandering Drunk’s identity or backstory. However, there’s a chance that he’s a nod to a similar beggar character from the first game, who had also lost everything and became a vagabond. Otherwise, it’s possible that the Wandering Drunk is just another unfortunate soul who lost his home and family, with the keys on his body being little more than remnants of his past life. These keys could have once opened doors or chests in a home he no longer has, and it’s likely they’re there purely for flavour.

✓ Mismatched keys

While playing, you’ll also notice that many other NPCs in the game have keys on them when you loot or pickpocket them. Most of the time, it’s impossible to figure out what these keys are for, and it seems that’s the case with the Wandering Drunk as well. So, don’t expect anything important to come from them.

What is inside the barn?

After dealing with the Wandering Drunk, you can enter the barn to grab a few more pieces of loot. The barn itself is dirty and ramshackle, with little to offer. However, there’s a loot container beside the cot, as well as a pouch hanging from a nearby beam, to the right from the bed. As far as we can tell, the loot you find inside is randomized.
