Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R – How To Use Hamon

Each new arc of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure introduces dozens of new stand users, drawn to one another and fated to battle. But it wasn’t always like this. There was a simpler time for Jojo’s Bizarre adventure. When Stands had yet to exist, and battles revolved around martial arts, imbued with powerful sunlight. That’s right, Hamon. Now, All-Star Battle R is bringing Hamon back to the forefront.  

The first two parts of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure didn’t feature stands at all, and Hamon was the protagonists’ main method of combating villainous vampires and more. As All-Star Battle R features fighters from across Jojo canon, several Hamon wielders have stepped up and entered the fray. Though they may be outnumbered by the Stand users on the roster, they are by no means outmatched. We’ll show you how to make the best use of Hamon with our All-Star Battle R guide.

All-Star Battle R: How to Use Hamon 

Hamon is used in Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R in much the same way that it is used in the main series. Hamon enhances the wielder’s physical capabilities, allowing them to perform superhuman feats.  

As opposed to the literal fighting spirit that Stands are made of, Hamon flows through the body. Hamon is occasionally externalized, but for the most part, it augments existing physical capabilities. This can result in Hamon wielders having less overall range than their stand-using counterparts, but some fighters like Caesar have found a way to use Hamon in ranged attacks. 

Hamon-based combatants have a different use for the Style Button than Stand Users. Instead of manifesting their stand, holding the style button allows Hamon users to charge up their HH meter. Doing so leaves the character immobile and vulnerable, but charging can be quickly canceled at any time. 

Creating space from an opponent and charging up meter when they have an opening can lead to Hamon users having much more frequent access to their most powerful moves than other fighters.

All-Star Battle R’s Hamon users exclusively hail from the first two parts of Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. With Hamon being unusable by the villains of these arcs, All-Star Battle’s Hamon users are comprised of protagonists and their supporting cast.

Hamon Tips And Tricks 

• Joseph Joestar has a unique ability that increases the power of his Hamon moves. Joseph has several counters that can be performed in response to an enemy’s attacks; Your Next Line is-, Guess I Did It Again! and Don’t You Get It? Successfully performing a counter raises his Taunt gauge by one, and the power of all his Hamon abilities increases with each subsequent level. 
• If the Style button is pressed in place of an attack button when performing a combo, Hamon users will power up the attack, dealing more damage and consuming 25% of the HH gauge. 
• Hamon-imbued abilities are especially powerful when used against vampire characters like Dio Brando.
