Is AC Mirage open world? Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the latest instalment of the storied series, putting you in the shoes of an assassin yet again.

Taking place in 9th-century Baghdad, Assassin’s Creed Mirage looks to be mostly confined to a city, with a decided shift away from the systems and RPG elements present in AC Valhalla and Odyssey.

We can expect plenty of historical accuracy once again, just like with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey which was set in Ancient Greece. Make sure you read our guides on whether AC Mirage is coming to Xbox One and the AC Mirage release date. If you want to know if AC Mirage is an open-world game, then read on.

Is AC Mirage open world?

Quite simply, yes, Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be open-world, but the caveat of this is it isn’t the same open-world setup as the likes of Valhalla, where you have a gigantic mass of land to travel. In AC Mirage, you will instead be able to fully explore Baghdad and all its nooks and crannies. If you’re curious, check out our guide on how big the AC Mirage map is, so you can see what you’ll be working with.

As more of a direct comparison, we could expect to see the open world of AC Mirage be similar in scope and scale to the likes of Paris in Assassin’s Creed Unity. We can see the exploration of the world in official gameplay trailers, where the main character can parkour around and stealth through a bustling city. It seems that while Mirage isn’t technically an open world as we might think of it, there is more of an emphasis on cultivating the experiences from earlier Assassin’s Creed games, focusing on a more contained narrative than previous releases, with a smaller map to accommodate that.

There you have it. AC Mirage will be more of an open-city game than a true open-world game, but there is plenty of freedom and exploration to be done.
