To the northwest of the Sphinx in Gizeh is a set of ruins poking out from the top of a small hillock. Venturing inside you’ll uncover an antechamber with a large sarcophagus begging to be opened to see what riches lie within. Accessing the tomb and picking up the Tomb Journal kick starts the Seat of Eternity mystery, which tasks you with opening the Sarcophagus.

The note isn’t much help other than recounting some questionable profiteering from what is presumably a deceased adventurer. All you have is a puzzle consisting of a canopic jar and several pedestals to work with. In this guide, we’ll walk you through how to open the sarcophagus in the Seat of Eternity mystery in Indiana Jones.

Seat of Eternity sarcophagus puzzle solution

To solve the sarcophagus puzzle, you’ll need to find a set of four canopic jars and place them in the correct positions on the pedestals in the chamber. The first jar, called the Falcon Canopic Jar, is found on the floor in the same room as the sarcophagus.

To get the second, exit the room, take a left, and jump across the gap using the whip grapple point above. Take a left, crouch under the gate, and you’ll find the Jackal Canopic Jar. Make your way back to the gap, then throw the jar onto the other side. Holding the jar and trying to whip across will make Indy drop it into the hole below.

The third jar is at the bottom of the pit.

The third jar is found at the bottom of the hole next to a skeleton. Whip to the grapple point then lower yourself down. Grab the Human Canopic Jar and throw it up onto the ledge above.

To get the fourth jar, grab the metal rod weapon in the pit and throw it up. Climb out of the pit, grab the rod, and break through the wall ahead. The Baboon Canopic Jar is straight ahead at the end of the corridor.

Now that you have all four jars, head back to the sarcophagus chamber. If you look, you’ll see that the images above each pedestal roughly match what’s depicted on the jars, except for the Jackal which is scratched out. You’ll need to place them on the pedestals as follows, starting from the left and working your way to the right: Human Canopic Jar, Falcon Canopic Jar, Jackal Canopic, and Baboon Canopic Jar.

Position them correctly and the sarcophagus will slide open. Inside, you’ll find an Ancient Relic. Grabbing it completes the Seat of Eternity mystery.
