Here’s how to enable a controller in Dragonflight so you can complete your raids and missions a lot easier!

While Blizzard already announced that they have no intentions of bringing World of Warcraft to Playstation and Xbox, the game still supports their controllers even if they are exclusive to desktop computers and laptops.

Using the keyboard and mouse will give you a superior experience, but also a significant advantage if you want to get competitive.

However, for the players that want to be comfortable and enjoy the gameplay laid back on the sofa, the Dragonflight update allows you to use a controller.

Pairing this feature with sharing your computer’s screen on your TV with an HDMI cable makes the experience truly relaxing.

How to use a controller in the new update

While the mechanics and the purpose of the game stay the same, its controls are entirely changed once you plug in your controller.

The HUD now features big buttons that take almost all the bottom of your screen with spells that can be activated by making different combinations.

Because there are so many spells to use, at one point you will have to learn specific combinations to activate them.

Luckily, you can use all the buttons available on your controller including the back triggers as well.

So while the first items from the action bar are activated with the simple press of a button, you will need to perform a combination for the last ones.

Most people are satisfied with this new experience and they are grateful that Blizzard finally listened to their request.

Not only is the game compatible with controllers now, but the interface is also optimized for better gameplay.

This implementation is just an example of how an 18-year-old game can still be popular almost 2 decades after its release.

Other changes in controller mode

While the entire control system of the game changes after you plug a controller into your desktop PC or laptop, the interface changes as well.

It’s easier for the player to get familiar with the controls and key bindings in this new format, which is quite different from the one you were used to on the keyboard and mouse.

You can also notice changes in the camera angle, which is quite different than usual. While the camera still follows your character as you move around, it is positioned more closely but it can always be modified.

From the game’s settings, you can change the position of this camera and modify its angles to your own preference.

For people that are used to third-player views, these customizations come as a blessing. You can now angle the camera so that your character is not in the center of the screen like it used to be when you played with a mouse and keyboard.

Obviously, the rotation of the camera is now slower and smoother since you are using a controller. With the mouse, you could pan your camera around your character both quickly and slowly.

However, there are specific settings you can change in the game’s menu and further increase or decrease the camera rotation speed.
