Whether you’re partial to the Omega Marines, the Storm Giants, or any other Astartes Chapter, Space Marine 2 character customization lets you deck out your marine with a trove of flashy cosmetics and looks.

As you play through the Campaign, Operations, and Eternal War, you’ll hoover up plenty more, but it can be tricky figuring out how to equip them and even and unlocking armor, colors, pauldrons, emblems, and what not in the first place. Here’s how to customize your characters in Space Marine 2 to make the Imperium proud.

Space Marine 2 character customization explained

To customize your character, switch to either Operations or Eternal War modes, then into the Battle Barge and head for the Armouring Hall. Interact with the computer station there then select the class you want to tweak then tap Edit Armor at the bottom of the screen.

From here, you can customize your character using the Armor Sets and Astartes Chapters tabs in the top left of the screen. Armor is self-explanatory and covers armor pieces:

  • Helmet
  • Pauldrons
  • Greaves
  • Breastplate
  • Wargear
  • Gauntlets
  • Backpack

Astartes Chapters lets you choose a colour scheme based on specific Marine Chapters along with shoulder emblems:

  • Pattern
  • Colour
  • Emblem
  • Emblem colour
✓ Tip

Make sure you’re in the right game mode before changing customization options as they’ll only affect the mode you’re currently in. Any changes made in Operations won’t carry over to Eternal War, for example, so you’ll need to customize for each mode.

How to unlock customization options

There are three ways to unlock customization options:

  • Battle Pass seasonal cosmetic packs
  • Rewards for playing Operations and Eternal War
  • Spending Requisitions in the Heraldry

Firstly, you can unlock customization options through DLC included in the Battle Pass that add extra Chapter Packs and Cosmetic Packs. These are marked with the DLC icon in the Armoury Hall

Secondly, skins and cosmetics are unlocked by playing the Operations and Eternal War modes. Completing missions and coming out on top in Eternal War matches unlocks sets. Individual pieces of these sets can then be mixed and matched as you see fit to create unique looks.

Lastly, cosmetics can be bought using Requisitions in the Heraldry menu. Requisitions is a currency earned in both Operations and Eternal War and is used exclusively to purchase cosmetics. To spend Requisitions, access the Armoury Hall and tap the Heraldry icon in the top right of the screen like in the image above. You can then spend Requisitions to unlock Chapter emblems, then associated armor pieces, colors, markings, and so on. Note that Heraldry purchases carry over to both Operations and Eternal War so you only need to buy them once.
