If you venture into Terminid-controlled territory, you’re going to run into the one of Helldivers 2’s most annoying bugs, Hunters. In fact, they’re often targeted with Personal Orders (daily missions), tasking you to kill a certain number of them. The bad news is they’re pretty powerful, especially for one of the more common enemies in the game. The good news? Providing you have the best weapons and armor, you stand a very good chance of walking away unscathed. Here’s how to find and beat Hunters.
Where to find Hunters in Helldivers 2
Look in the Terminid systems to the right of Super Earth in Helldivers 2 to find Hunters. These orange sectors have all kinds of big and mean bugs to fight. Since they spawn on every level as a weak enemy, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding them. Look for their pale bodies with orange flesh. These can be tough to tackle during a firefight due to their ability to jump towards you and overwhelm you with sheer numbers. Personal orders usually want you to take out 25 Hunters to fulfill it.
How to beat Hunters fast
While it doesn’t take much to kill a Hunter, they can be deadly in groups. The best thing to do is head to the red-marked bug holes on your map and plug them, fast. Whatever you do, do not get surrounded… opt for weapons with a hight rate of fire, and potentially use the Stun Grenade (one of the best grenades in the game) if you find yourself outnumbered. A more powerful, flying variant of the Hunter is called a Pouncer, which have yellow wings.
Even though it’s a starter weapon, the AR-23 Liberator is actually pretty effective at beating Hunters.
Other tips to consider:
- Any weapon can take down a hunter: As they’re not armored, even an SMG or Pistol secondary can take these foes out without an issue. Consider saving your shotgun, sniper rifle, and assault rifle rounds for more important targets. Just remember to reload before you’re overwhelmed.
- When in doubt, opt for fire rate: While stratagems are unnecessary for these creatures, you could use supply weapons to clear out entire hordes. Consider sentry turrets or weapons like the Machine Gun.
- Watch out for surprise attacks: Sure, Hunters are easy to take down. But if they jump dangerously close to you, they can even puncture your armor, draining your health with a chest hemorrhage. So take them down whenever they get close and turn around once in a while to guard your back.
- Opt for Eradicate Terminid Swarm missions: These task you with killing a certain number of Terminid bugs. We spotted over a dozen Hunters in a couple of minutes so you’ll be able to find even more with time.
- Tinker with the difficulty settings: While you can pick one that you’re comfortable, Personal Order missions can be completed on the easiest difficulty too. So if you’re in a hurry, you can drop the difficulty option to Trivial and hunt some bugs.
