- Weapon aspects are unlocked when you meet Hecate after unlocking all five weapons in the game.

While Melinoe has plenty of weapons to pick from, weapon aspects are powerful upgrades that enhance their performance before a run. On Nightmare runs and endgame resource hunts, you’ll find these upgrades useful for all your weapons. Here’s what you need to know about unlocking weapon aspects and all their effects.
How to unlock weapon aspects
Speak to Hecate after unlocking all five Nocturnal Arms in the game – the Witch’s Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, Moonstone Axe, and Argent Skull. Doing so after an underground or surface run will unlock the Aspects of Night and Darkness incantation at her cauldron. This needs 5 Bronze and 1 Nightshade to brew. Bronze can be mined with the Crescent Pick on the surface. And Nightshade seeds can be found in Erebus’ digging spots with the Silver Spade.
Once the incantation is done, head to the training grounds and stand near the blue growing circle. It will have an exclamation mark, indicating that new options are available. While some weapon aspects might not be readily available, finding the reagents to unlock them will reveal them to you.
All weapon aspects and their effects
Aspects can be ranked up from rank 1 to rank 5, boosting their unique buff conditions. Unlocking a new aspect will give you a rank 1 weapon, ready to be leveled up. The regular variants will turn into Aspect of Melinoe weapons. For upgrades, head to the heart tab in the Aspect Awakenings menu. As you work towards rank 5, upgrades tend to require the same reagents in larger quantities.
New aspects will require Nightmares, a resource earned by completing endgame runs or beating bosses with specific weapons. This can be checked at the Oath of the Unseen modifier system near the underworld and surface entrances after defeating Chronos, the final boss in the game.
Witch’s Staff
