  • You can get Bronze by mining deposits on the surface. These look like shiny brown piles of discarded armor.
  • To reach the surface, you’ll need the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation.
  • Recipes that use the resource include the Argent Skull, Rod of Fishing, weapon Aspects, and the Aspect of Night and Darkness incantation.

You’ll find Bronze on the surface in Hades 2 but you’ll need to figure out how to survive a life-draining curse first. It’s essential for brewing incantations and unlocking weapons like the lethal Argent Skull. Here’s how you can head to the surface, beat its curse, and find Bronze once you arrive at Ephyra.

How to get Bronze in Hades 2

To get Bronze in Hades 2, you’ll need to mine Bronze deposits on the surface. These look like shiny piles of brown-colored armor. You’ll need to have crafted the Crescent Pick before you can mine Bronze. Don’t worry about missing them as your Reagent Sensing perk will mark them for you after an encounter. You can mine three Bronze pieces from each deposit.

There’s no guarantee you’ll run into them as I’ve had runs where I didn’t see a single deposit and ones where I earned nine Bronze. Every location you enter on the surface has a chance of spawning deposits so you’ll eventually get enough for crafting recipes. To increase the Bronze deposit spawn rate, equip the Crescent Pick before leaving the Crossroads. Your first item after obtaining this material should be the Argent Skull, the fifth weapon in your Nocturnal Arms collection.

How to reach the surface

To reach the surface, concoct Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation at the cauldron in the Crossroads. This will break the seal on the stairway leading to the surface. You’ll get it after Hermes contacts you in the Underworld after a couple of runs. It costs x1 Cinder, x1 Shadow, and x3 Moly flowers. Cinder is obtained by beating Hecate, the first Guardian boss. Shadow is concocted via Shadow Extraction. Moly spawns throughout Erebus.

You’ll obtain the Shadow Extraction recipe after a conversation with Hecate during an Underworld run. Creating Shadow via the Alchemy tab of the cauldron takes 12 instances of time and costs x30 Ash, x30 Psyche, and x3 Fate Fabric. You can find the first two items as chamber rewards in the Underworld or purchase them all at the Wretched Broker. As for Fate Fabric, running into Arachne in Erebus and picking the Onyx Dress will give you one Fate Fabric for free.

The main problem you’ll face in the city of Ephyra is Melinoe’s health-draining curse as she’s from the Underworld. While you can still get Bronze here via multiple short trips, concoting the Unraveling a Fateful Bond incantation removes the health debuff entirely. You’ll need x2 Thalamus, x2 Lotus, x2 Nightshade, and x2 Moss for this. Thalamus can be obtained from Origin Seeds dug up at Chaos Gates. One of the seeds lets you harvest two Thalamuses. You’ll find Nightshade seeds in dig spots throughout Erebus while Lotus are plentiful in Oceanus’ domain. Moss requires quick trips to the surface.
