  • Expect around 20 hours of content from Hades 2, covering your runs, social interactions, and Crossroads upgrade hunting.
  • A completionist run can take upwards of 50 hours. You’ll be able to reach an ending but the true ending will be released later.
  • There’s more content here than the original Hades had in its full release. Your progress transfers over to the 1.0 release of Hades 2 as well.

The sequel to everyone’s favorite roguelike shadow-dropped into Early Access and players are already blazing through its bosses. Here’s a look at how long it’ll take to beat Hades 2 and how many hours you can sink into mastering its current build. There’s even more on offer here compared to the original launch back in 2020.

How long to beat the Hades 2 story?

Clearing the entire story across multiple runs in Hades 2 will take you about 20 hours. While your runs might grow longer with time, each attempt at thwarting Chronos will give you essential resources to concoct incantations. These will let you move the story forward, regardless of how many unsuccessful runs you tally up. If you’re wondering how Melinoë handles new threats, check out our Hades 2 review.

While the Early Access version doesn’t have the true ending currently, its 15-20 hour runtime still has plenty of narrative content for you to experience. You’ll encounter characters both old and new on your journey against the Titan of Time. Witchcraft and dark sorcery let Melinoë dash and cast slowing magic on enemies right from Erebus, the first area you’ll explore. Your journey won’t just have you fighting your way to the house of Hades though. Without revealing too much, you’ll explore more than just the underworld in the roguelike dungeon crawler sequel.

How long to beat a completionist run of Hades 2?

If you want to tinker with an assortment of god boons, deepen your friendships by gifting Nectar, and gain every reward in-game, you can safely expect over 50 hours of content in Early Access. Collecting Arcana cards, gathering rare Legendary and Duo boons, and concocting upgrades at Hecate’s cauldron will keep you occupied for a long, long time. Naturally, you’ll need a bit of luck to survive long enough to make the most of your runs. With the right upgrades, you’ll zip through encounters and bosses. Expect the full 1.0 release to have even more content considering the number of sizable updates the original game’s Early Access build received.

What content can you explore in the Hades 2 Early Access build?

We can confirm that the 0.90279 build of Hades 2 on PC has more content than the original Hades title did at launch. That includes weapon and boon synergies, storylines and arenas to explore, and bosses to fight. New locations on the surface are to thank for this generous boost in content.

One look at the Hades 2 roadmap will tell you that this is one game that barely feels like it’s a work in progress in terms of quantity. Over the coming year, Supergiant Games will polish the game with balance changes and even more narrative events that flesh out the current ending. You’ll also be relieved to know that all your saves will carry over into the 1.0 release. So all this time poured into defying Chronos as the Princess of the Underworld will be time well spent.
