Our list of best weapons to use
Picking the right gear can mean the difference between survival and losing all your equipment. While every weapon in the game has its strengths, some guns let you outgun others with the right attachments. Based on the current meta and the time we spent on clearing the game’s quests, here are the best weapons you should get your hands on:
Rank | Weapon |
---|---|
1 | M4A1 |
2 | AK-47 |
3 | Sa vz. 61 Skorpion |
4 | Remington Model 870 |
5 | SKS |
5. SKS
- Weapon type: Bolt Action Rifle
- Rate of fire: 300 RPM
- Recoil pattern: Vertical Moderate
- Best attachments: MX II SKS Stock, Shift Vertical Foregrip, Acog TA01NSN Assault Scope
The SKS is the first bolt-action rifle players will find while pursuing quests. You can also obtain it from the Turncoat vendor for $110. Despite its low fire rate, it’s a great weapon for medium-range encounters. You should be able to knock enemies down with a hit to their head or chest. To add more attachment slots, consider the MX II SKS Stock. You can add the 35-round magazine for fewer reloads and the PBS suppressor to keep enemies unaware of your position. If you want a weapon with even better range, consider the Mosin sniper rifle. For most threats, the SKS rewards good aim with quick kills.
4. Remington Model 870
- Weapon type: Pump Shotgun
- Rate of fire: 300 RPM
- Recoil pattern: Vertical Heavy
- Best attachments: None
The Remington Model 870, also known as the M870, is easily the best close-quarters combat weapon in the game. With its high damage and potential to hit multiple vital organs, shotguns are a great way to take advantage of the ailment system. Hitting limbs isn’t as effective as targeting vital organs and will only lead to bleeding or damaged bones. You can buy the M870 from Gunny and customize it into a sawed-off variant. Low-level enemies tend to have this fully customized so you don’t have to hunt for attachments. If you decide to wield this pump shotgun, remember to close in on your foes by taking cover for maximum damage.
3. Sa vz. 61 Skorpion
- Weapon type: SMG/Full Auto
- Rate of fire: 870 RPM
- Recoil pattern: Horizontal Moderate
- Best attachments: VZ. 61 Browning-20 Round Magazine, Wooden Pistol Grip, Wire Stock
The best part about the nimble Sa vz. 61 Skorpion is that you can use it as a sidearm. While it’s pretty capable without attachments, add the Browning 20-round magazine to pick off multiple enemies at close range. Just remember that its bullet spread and recoil aren’t as tight as an assault rifle. To remedy that, add the Wooden Pistol Grip to improve its stability. Complete quests for the Artisan and you’ll get to their tier 2 upgrades. The Skorpion is a good pick against most enemy types when your main weapon runs out of ammo.
2. AK-47
- Weapon type: Auto Rifle/Single-Auto
- Rate of fire: 600 RPM
- Recoil pattern: Vertical Moderate
- Best attachments: AK MOE Handguard, Ultraslim Angled Foregrip, PBS-04 Suppressor, Specter DR1 scope
The AK-47 comes in several variants like the AKM and AK-74N. You’ll find these in the regions near your faction’s base camp. With a fast fire rate and decent recoil, the AK-47 is a great starting assault rifle. While you can get the M4A1 in camp, the AK-47 can be obtained for free from dead enemies. To enhance your range, add the Specter DR1 scope from the faction vendor Gunny. As for reducing recoil, the Ultraslim Angled Foregrip is a good choice. Use the AK-47 to clear enemy players with ease and grab their loot in this tactical shooter.
1. M4A1
- Weapon type: Auto Rifle/Single-Auto
- Rate of fire: 800 RPM
- Recoil pattern: Vertical Moderate
- Best attachments: Gripin Rip, JPGS Gas Block, DD Wrist Handguard, ARC 1 Suppressor
When it comes to handling all kinds of situations, the starting M4A1 is a great pick. With a variety of attachments that let you lean into your playstyle, it’s a good starting point. And with decent recoil and spread, it’ll let you knock down enemies without much of an issue. Add the Acog TA01NSN Assault Scope and the ARC 1 Suppressor from vendor Gunny to optimize its capabilities. Other attachments like bayonets and carriers add even more utility to the M4A1. PvE and PvP enemies won’t hear your shots with the latter, letting you clean up enemy patrols.
