How to Heal in God of War Ragnarok
Mystic Gateways
The easiest way to heal in God of War Ragnarok is to visit and interact with any mystic gateway in the Nine Realms. Doing so will fully replenish Kratos’ health, filling out the green health bar located in the bottom-left of the on-screen HUD.
Health Stones
If there’s no mystic gateway in your immediate vicinity, God of War Ragnarok’s world is peppered with green health stones that you can stomp to replenish a set amount of health depending on their size. Larger stones grant more health, small ones less health. To use a health stone, press Circle when you’re close by and the corresponding prompt appears on-screen
Health stones are found on the floor throughout the realms, but are also dropped regularly by enemies and bosses. Destroying pots, crates, and other breakable debris can also yield health stones. It’s also possible to increase the frequency of health stone drops by equipping certain armor, runic summons, and enchantment amulets.
Spartan Rage
A further way to heal is to use Kratos’ Spartan Rage by pressing the L3 and R3 thumbsticks simultaneously. For every bare-handed melee hit, Kratos will heal a set amount of health.
Collect Idunn Apples
Though not exactly healing, you can increase the overall size of Kratos’ health bar by equipping vitality-boosting armor and collecting Idunn Apples from Nornir chests. The apples grant a permanent increase to Kratos’ health.
Amulet Enchantments
Lastly, equipping the Regenerating Essence and Greater Regenerating Essence amulet enchantments grants constant health regeneration.
Resurrection Stones
You can buy resurrection stones at any shop across the realms. Note that players can only carry one stone at a time. These stones revive Kratos once after his health drops to zero during combat. Press Square when the prompt appears on screen.
