Raiden Shogun is an Electro Polearm user who is geared towards being an irreplaceable support character. Thanks to her kit, which is geared around Energy Recharge, Raiden Shogun excels at providing more elemental particles for your team, while also having a Burst that refills your team’s Burst.

As such, the gameplay loop for Raiden consists of using her Skill, switching to your other party members and using their Bursts, and then going back to Raiden to unleash her Burst. Each Burst used by your party enhances the overall power of Raiden’s, and this is why she is so good as a Support and DPS all in one package.

The best Raiden Shogun builds focus on Energy Recharge, and as such as she should built as a Support with this in mind. The table below has a brief outline of the best builds for Raiden Shogun and we will go into detail further down as to why.

Raiden Shogun best Artifacts for Main DPS

The best Artifact set for Raiden Shogun overall is the four-piece Emblem of Severed Fate. Without a doubt, this set has everything Raiden needs to perform extremely well. If you want the best Raiden Shogun build, utilising this set will get you on your way to shaping Raiden into a powerful character thanks to how much she scales from having a high Energy Recharge stat.

The Emblem set is amazing for several reasons, but the biggest boon it provides to ER characters is effectively what is good about Raiden: it increases her own ER and then increases her Burst by a percentage of your max ER. As of the most recent Genshin patch, Emblem of Severed Fate outperforms all other Artifacts for Raiden. This table shows the Artifact sets for Raiden Shogun best builds.

Artifact SetSet BonusReason
Emblem of Severed Fate x4Two-piece bonus: Energy Recharge +20%

Four-piece bonus: Increases Elemental Burst DMG by 25% of Energy Recharge. A maximum of 75% bonus DMG can be obtained in this way.
The four-piece Emblem of Severed Fate is the best Artifact Set for Raiden Shogun. It naturally enhances her kit and grants her more ER, which directly translates into more Electro damage and a buff to the team’s ER. All in all, this is Raiden’s most optimal set.

For Raiden’s Artifact stats, she will need to be built with an emphasis on ER and DPS, which means you need an Energy Recharge Sands, Electro DMG Goblet, and a Crit Rate or Crit DMG Circlet. Use this table below for information on Artifact stats for Raiden Shogun best builds.

Artifact PieceMain StatSub Stat
SandsEnergy RechargeCrit Rate / Crit DMG > ATK%
GobletElectro DMG BonusER > Crit Rate/DMG > ATK%
CircletCrit Rate or Crit DMGER > Crit Rate/DMG > ATK%

Regardless of your weapon and sub-stats, you should aim to get as much Energy Recharge on your Raiden Shogun as possible. Each point of ER increases Raiden’s Electro DMG Bonus, so when you use her Burst, you will start seeing impressive numbers and deal a ton of damage. As always, since Raiden is something of a hybrid, you want to make sure you have enough Crit Rate and DMG, typically to about a 1:2 ratio – so 50 Crit Rate would mean you want around 100 Crit DMG.

How much ER does Raiden need?

You want to aim for 200% ER. As it stands, this is doable without her signature weapon. All you need to do is get lucky on Artifact substats, and you’ll hit that threshold. For reference, our Raiden Shogun has 278% ER, which translates to 118.1% Electro DMG bonus

Raiden Shogun best weapons

The best weapon for Raiden Shogun is Engulfing Lightning. This five-star Polearm is her signature weapon that can only be obtained from the limited Weapon Banner that runs alongside Raiden Shogun’s Banner. Since weapon banners are notoriously difficult and expensive to pull on, you shouldn’t worry too much about getting Engulfing Lightning for Raiden’s best builds.

There are plenty of free-to-play options and other alternative weapons that work just as well with Raiden Shogun, sometimes better depending on how you want to play her. Outside of the obvious five-star options, Raiden’s best weapons include The Catch, Skyward Pride, and the Wavebreaker’s Fin. Check out Raiden Shogun’s best weapon options in the table below:

WeaponMain StatPassive EffectOur Reason
Engulfing Lightning (5*)Energy RechargeATK increased by 28% of Energy Recharge over the base 100%. You can gain a maximum bonus of 80% ATK. Gain 30% Energy Recharge for 12s after using an Elemental Burst. This weapon should speak for itself. As Raiden’s signature weapon, it is specifically catered to her kit and abilities, making it the best-in-slot for any DPS-focused Raiden builds.
Skyward Pride (5*)Energy RechargeIncreases Crit Rate by 8% and increases Normal ATK SPD by 12%. Additionally, Normal and Charged Attacks have a 50% chance to trigger a vacuum blade that deals 40% of ATK as DMG in a small AOE.Skyward Pride is our pick for Raiden Shogun’s best weapon. We rate this higher than The Catch, simply because it offers more benefits. The increase to ATK SPD is extremely beneficial to Raiden because it means you can do more attacks while in her Burst.
The Catch (4*)Energy RechargeIncreases Elemental Burst DMG by 16% and Elemental Burst CRIT Rate by 6%.The Catch is widely considered to be Raiden’s best F2P weapon since it is relatively easy to get through fishing. It is extremely good, and works brilliantly on her, but we pick Skyward Pride over this but that is our personal preference.
Wavebreaker’s Fin (4*)ATK%For every point of the entire party’s combined maximum Energy capacity, the Elemental Burst DMG of the character equipping this weapon is increased by 0.12%. A maximum of 40% increased Elemental Burst DMG can be achieved this way.Wavebreaker’s Fin is something of a rarity since it has to come from the Weapon Banner. If you happen to have this, and don’t have The Catch or Skyward Pride, then you should use this on Raiden until you get either of those. The increase in Burst DMG is helpful, so it’s by no means bad for her.

Raiden Shogun’s best four-star weapon

Out of all the weapons available to Raiden Shogun, The Catch is the best of the four-star options for her as a DPS build. It is easy to get through fishing which makes it completley free.

As far as Raiden Shogun best builds go, we always recommend focusing on Energy Recharge instead of putting her into other roles. However, we will now examine the best Hypberloom builds for Raiden Shogun.

Raiden Shogun best Artifacts for Hyperbloom build

If you want to use Raiden Shogun with Dendro characters, you are better off changing her Artifacts and weapons to enable the triggering of Hyperbloom reactions. This is known as an EM build for Raiden, since it focuses entirely on upping her Elemental Mastery.

While not optimal, it helps Raiden do more DMG as a sub-DPS thanks to her off-field Skill triggering reliable Electro reactions with every other few hits from your main DPS. Thanks to this, Raiden is technically the one triggering the reactions, so more Elemental Mastery is needed on her.

Artifact SetSet BonusReason
Flower of Paradise Lost x4Two-piece bonus: Elemental Mastery +80

Four-piece bonus: The equipping character’s Bloom, Hyperbloom, and Burgeon reaction DMG are increased by 40%. Additionally, after the equipping character triggers Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, they will gain another 25% bonus to the effect mentioned prior. Each stack of this lasts 10s. Max 4 stacks simultaneously. This effect can only be triggered once per second. The character who equips this can still trigger its effects when not on the field.
The Flower of Paradise Lost will net you more EM thanks to the passive effects, but it is in a Domain that drops a fairly unnecessary other Artifact.
Gilded Dreams x4Two-piece bonus: Elemental Mastery +80

Four-piece bonus: Within 8s of triggering an Elemental Reaction, the character equipping this will obtain buffs based on the Elemental Type of the other party members. ATK is increased by 14% for each member whose Elemental Type is the same as the equipping character, and EM is increased by 50 for every member with a different Elemental Type. Each of the buffs will count up to 3 characters. This effect can be triggered once every 8s and even when not on the field.
Gilded Dreams works similarly to Paradise Lost, but you can double up on your farming if you need any Deepwood Memories sets for your Dendro characters. If you don’t have either, we would recommend farming for Gilded Dreams over the Flower of Paradise Lost. Both provide EM, but the secondary effects are more varied.

Since Electro works well with Dendro, your focus with Hyperbloom builds is to increase your Elemental Mastery more than any other stat. This only applies to your off-field Electro characters, so make sure you Dendro characters are set up differently. When it comes to your Artifacts, these are the stats you want for Raiden Shogun:

Artifact PieceMain StatSub Stat
SandsElemental MasteryEnergy Rechrage > Crit Rate / Crit DMG
GobletElemental MasteryEnergy Rechrage > Crit Rate / Crit DMG
CircletElemental MasteryEnergy Rechrage > Crit Rate / Crit DMG

On your Feather and Flower Artifacts, aim for more EM increases alongside Energy Recharge. Both of these stats will help flesh Raiden out and make her Dendro-focused reactions trigger for huge damage and help out any Hyperbloom team she’s in.

Raiden Shogun best weapons for Hyperbloom build

With Hyperbloom Raiden, your best weapon will be Dragon’s Bane. This four-star weapon can be obtained from the Standard Banner and all other Event Banners. While you have a low chance of getting it, you should have gotten at least one in your journeys through Teyvat.

If you haven’t got one, don’t worry! Hyperbloom Raiden doesn’t need anything fancy to be an excellent sub-DPS. You can also give her the free-to-play weapons Kitain Cross Spear or the Moonpiercer. All of these are excellent choices for Raiden, so go with what you have at higher Refinement.

WeaponMain StatPassive EffectOur Reason
Dragon’s Bane (4*)Elemental MasteryIncreases DMG against opponents affected by Hydro or Pyro by 20%.Since Hyperbloom revolves around hitting Dendro Cores with Electro, the enemies you fight will almost always be affected by Hydro. This makes the resulting damage from Hyperbloom higher than normal, which is exactly what you want.
Kitain Cross Spear (4*)Elemental MasteryIncreases Elemental Skill DMG by 6%. After Elemental Skill hits an opponent, the character loses 3 Energy but regenerates 3 Energy every 2s for the next 6s. This effect can occur once every 10s. Can be triggered even when the character is not on the field. The Kitain Cross Spear is a F2P weapon you can craft, and it has a passive that will specifically help Raiden in triggering Hyperbloom. Thanks to the increase in Skill DMG, Raiden’s off-field Electo attacks will hit harder.
Moonpiercer (4*)Elemental MasteryAfter triggering Burning, Quicken, Aggravate, Spread, Bloom, Hyperbloom, or Burgeon, a Leaf of Revival will be created around the character for a maximum of 10s. When picked up, the Leaf will grant the character 16% ATK for 12s. Only 1 Leaf can be generated this way every 20s. This effect can still be triggered if the character is not on the fieldMoonpiercer is a better option than the Kitain Cross Spear, since it is designed to buff you when you specifically trigger Dendro reactions. This will help your main on-field DPS get an ATK buff if they pick up the Leaf of Revival.

Raiden Shogun Talent priority

Raiden’s talents increase her Normal and Charged attacks, her Skill, and her Burst. Raiden benefits most from her Skill and Burst, both of which will help her deal more off-field and on-field damage when attacking.

Due to this, you should focus on levelling Raiden’s Talents in this order: Skill and Burst together, and then her Normal Attack when you can spare the materials. Raiden can deal a ton of damage with her Burst, especially with the first big hit it does. Alongside this, Raiden’s Skill will trigger while she’s attacking, doing even more Electro damage in one rotation.

Raiden Shogun Constellations

Raiden Shogun’s Constellations greatly improve her kit and DPS, along with her ER and a ridiculously nice Defence shred passive. Before we go into them, we think Raiden does a perfect job at C0, and anything extra is a happy bonus instead of a necessary addition to her kit.

ConstellationEffect
Ominous Inscription (C1)Chakra Desiderata will gather Resolve even faster. When Electro characters use their Elemental Bursts, the Resolve gained is increased by 80%. When characters of other Elemental Types use their Elemental Bursts, the Resolve gained is increased by 20%.
Steelbreaker (C2)While using Musou no Hitotachi in the Musou Isshin state applied by Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, the Raiden Shogun’s attacks ignore 60% of opponents’ DEF.
Shinkage Bygones (C3)Increases the level of Raiden’s Burst by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
Pledge of Propriety (C4)When the Musou Isshin state applied by Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu expires, all nearby party members (excluding the Raiden Shogun) gain 30% bonus ATK for 10s.
Shogun’s Descent (C5)Increases the level of Raiden’s Skill by 3. Maximum upgrade level is 15.
Wishbearer (C6)While in the Musou Isshin state applied by Secret Art: Musou Shinsetsu, attacks by the Raiden Shogun that are considered part of her Elemental Burst will decrease all nearby party members’ (not including Raiden Shogun herself) Elemental Burst CD by 1s when they hit opponents. This effect can trigger once every 1s and can trigger a total of 5 times during Musou Isshin’s duration.
