Wondering how to find Shadow Briefings in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2? You have come to the right place. If you’ve been playing the new season, you’ve undoubtedly seen the quest (part of the Kickstart Quests) to accept Shadow Briefings. These seem entirely new, and it’s not exactly clear what they’re referring to. The season only debuted a few days ago, so many players might not know how to proceed.

How to accept Shadow Briefings in Fortnite

Shadow Briefings have replaced bounties this season. A Shadow Briefing can involve you being tasked with hunting down a player to eliminate them for some gold. In this season, it also rewards XP, so it can be a good way to continue leveling up and unlocking new skins.

However, that is not the only way to get a Shadow Briefing. While some have replaced Bounty Boards (Bounty Shadow Briefing), others serve a different function. They will all seem the same until you get close, but then you can start missions with them that don’t involve other players.

Some briefings will cause a Supply Drop to spawn in and begin dropping. You have a certain amount of time to get to the drop and open it. Not only will you get an Epic or Legendary weapon, but you can get XP for doing it, too.

Another briefing is to find treasures. Remember in seasons past when buried treasure was a thing? Epic has brought that back for these Shadow Briefings. If you start this one, you have a countdown to find two buried treasures. They’re marked by wide circles on your map and are usually not well disguised. Again, opening both uncovered Level 2 chests will grant XP.

Finally, the fourth briefing is for a rifted vehicle. If you’re in desperate need of some mobility, you can call in a briefing that will drop a vehicle through a rift. Just like with the supply drop, it comes with a challenge. Once you’ve driven the requisite distance Epic Games has tasked you to in that exact car, you will get even more experience.

Where do I find Shadow Briefings in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2?

As common as bounty boards were in Fortnite (they were in every single POI and a few landmarks), Shadow Briefings might be even more common. There are two in the following locations:

  • Fencing Fields
  • Classy Courts
  • Restored Reels

Reckless Railways has four Shadow Briefings. The following POIs have a single briefing location:

  • Snooty Steppes
  • Grand Glacier
  • Grim Gate
  • The Underworld
  • Pleasant Piazza
  • Mount Olympus
  • Brawler’s Battleground
  • Rebel’s Roost

Some of these have one immediately outside the location as well. Lavish Lair currently doesn’t have one within the POI limits. Look for the Shadow Briefings Terminal indicator on your mini-map, as it is the same as the bounty board icon from Chapter 5 Season 1.
