How to search for players in FM24

There are two main ways to search for players in FM, and the one you should use depends on whether you’re searching for a specific individual player, or if you’re looking for a group of players that fit a certain criteria. Here’s how to do both.

Searching for individual players

Say you’ve got a particular player in mind. You’re managing Real Madrid, and you want to sign Kylian Mbappe. In this instance, searching for the player is a piece of cake. Simply click the search bar across the very top of your screen and type in ‘Mbappe’ to perform a player search, and a list of players, clubs, and staff will come up. Click Mbappe’s name to head to his player page.

If you’re looking for someone with a common name (e.g. John Smith), you can type in the name and hit enter. This will show you a list of all the people, clubs, and more that match this name, and you can narrow it down from there.

Searching for multiple players

If you’re looking to sign a player in a specific position for your squad (e.g. Goalkeeper), you can search for groups of players all at once. Head to the Scouting tab, and under the Players drop-down menu, you can select either Players in Range or Scouted Players. Scouted Players will show you every player that your scouting team has scout reports for, while Players in Range will show you every player that they can scout.

Alex’s Advice

Click ‘Overview’ above the list of players, and then ‘Customise Current View’, and you can choose what info you want to see about players. This is handy to see things like player personality or player stats.

From here, click the Filter option in the top right of the menu, where you can set criteria of what you want to search for. This can be position, age, transfer status, nationality, attributes, or just about anything you can think of. This is the best way of narrowing down your search so you can find exactly the kind of player you’re looking for.
