How to find Free Agents in FM24

Finding Free Agents in FM24 is a fairly easy process if you know what you’re doing. Head to the Scouting tab on the left-hand menu. Then from the Players tab, select either ‘Players in Range’ or ‘Scouted Players’.

This will provide a list with all of the players you can scout, or have already scouted. From here, click the New Search button in the top right corner to bring up the New Player Search menu.

This allows you to specify certain criteria to narrow the search down to specific players. In the bottom left corner of this menu is the ‘Contract Status’ option. Open this menu and select ‘Expired’, ‘Unattached’, or ‘Non-Contract’.

All of these options will show you the currently available Free Agents on the market. Non-Contract players are those at a club, but without a contract holding them there.

Any of these prospects can now be signed without paying a transfer fee, requiring you only to agree a contract with them.

In the last six months of a player’s contract, you can also agree a pre-contract deal to sign them once their contract runs out thanks to the Bosman rule, which has been a feature of Football Manager for many years.

Using the same method as before, select the ‘Expiring (6 Months)’ option to see all players whose contracts are running out in the next six months. Be aware that some of these players may want to wait until nearer to the end of their contract to sign a deal.

One major benefit of Free Agents is that you don’t need to scout them. You can simply offer them a trial to have your coaches assess them.

This is also the main way you’ll find new players if you’re playing a lower league save, so make good use of the Free Agent market.
