Backhand Blades
- The Backhand Blade is a weapon and weapon type in Shadow of the Erdtree
- The first one can be found in a mausoleum just north of the starting Site of Grace
- It is a dual wield set of swords with quick attacks and a highly-evasive Ash of War
Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC has added more than 100 new weapons to the game for players to use. And with eight new weapon types, there are some pretty unique weapons to try out, and the Backhand Blade is certainly one of them.
Available fairly early on into the DLC, it’s certainly one of the best-looking weapons we’ve found, feels great to fight with and has an interesting weapon skill. So if you want to try it out for yourself, we’ve got all the details including stat requirements and how to get it.
Backhand Blade overview
Confusingly, the Backhand Blade is a weapon and the name of the class of weapon it falls into. It’s two curved swords which are dual wielded, held pointing backwards and specialise in rapid attacks, making them well suited to Dexterity builds. It’s also one of the weapons you can find almost immediately after starting the DLC.
The Backhand Blade’s Ash of War is called ‘Blind Spot’, and can be altered. When you use it, you will dash diagonally forwards and to the side, before dashing into your opponent and striking them from the side. Your first dash has I-frames, meaning it’s incredibly evasive and can be used to avoid opponent attacks.
Backhand Blade stat requirements
To wield the Backhand Blade, you’ll need the following stats:
STR | DEX | INT | FAI | ARC |
---|---|---|---|---|
10 | 13 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Backhand Blade scaling
Here is how the Backhand Blade scales as you upgrade it:
Scaling | Scaling (+25) |
---|---|
STR – D | STR – C |
DEX – D | DEX – C |
Where to find the Backhand Blade
The Backhand Blade is found to the north of the Scorched Ruins Site of Grace, the first one you come across in the Land of Shadow. Head along the road leading north until you see a mausoleum just off to the east. Just be wary not to catch the attention of the nearby Furnace Golem and be sure to pick up the nearby map fragment to make navigating a little easier.
You’ll see a few enemies wandering around here, but they’re fairly easy to take down. Next, just head over to the tomb in the centre of the mausoleum, and you’ll find the Backhand Blade waiting for you to pick up. Be sure to check the images above to make it easier to find.
