eFootball 2024 controls – how to defend
First things first, you need to know how to defend in eFootball 2024. If you can’t defend, you will ship goals left and right. Funnily enough, this will make it much more difficult to win games of football!
Below are the defensive controls for the Standard setting.
Action | PlayStation | Xbox |
Call for Pressure | R1 | RB |
Change Player | L1 | LB |
Dash/Sprint | R2 | RT |
Match Up | L2 | LT |
GK runs towards ball | Triangle | Y |
Shoulder Charge | Square | X |
Sliding Tackle | Circle | B |
Pressure | X | A |
Move player | L stick | L stick |
Make the most of sliding tackles as the shoulder charge is ineffective when facing an attacker head on. Using a sliding tackle will help break up the play and your opponent’s attack. Only use sliding tackle if you are confident of winning the ball or making a foul, otherwise your defender will be out of position.
eFootball 2024 controls – how to attack
Scoring goals is the essence of football. If you can master the attacking controls, you will dominate possession and your opponent. Be careful though, playing tiki-taka style is not so easy in the game.
Below are the attacking controls for the Standard setting.
Action | PlayStation | Xbox |
Special Controls | R1 | RB |
Change Player | L1 | LB |
Dash/Sprint | R2 | RT |
Shield | L2 | LT |
Through Ball | Triangle | Y |
Shoot | Square | X |
Lofted Pass | Circle | B |
Low Pass | X | A |
Move player | L Stick | L Stick |
If you are looking to counter attack quickly, make use of the lofted pass. This is a more powerful and effective way of getting the ball to your attacking players quickly. Through balls can do a similar job, but players may struggle to perform accurate through balls if under pressure, or facing a different direction.
The controls for both attacking and defending can be customised. There is also an “Alternate” preset available which will be familiar to those playing FIFA or EA Sports FC 24.
