Konami has confirmed that its partnership with Spanish champions Barcelona will continue in eFootball 2024. The partnership began way back in 2016 and will see Barcelona continue to be fully authenticated in Konami’s eFootball franchise.
During their partnership, Barcelona has won the Spanish title three times, including last season as they romped home 10 points ahead of their rivals Real Madrid. Despite the loss of Lionel Messi, Xavi’s young guns are proving they are more than capable of stepping up to the elite level.
The renewal of the partnership between Konami and Barcelona will see eFootball retain multiple rights with FC Barcelona, including player access, media opportunities, and event exposure. While Barca will play their home games away from the Camp Nou this year, the stadium will remain exclusive in eFootball.
To celebrate the renewal, three Barcelona legends have been introduced to eFootball Dream Team. Brazilian superstar Rivaldo, Argentine ace Javier Saviola, and dynamic Dutchman Patrick Kluivert are now all available to add to your squads.
“It is very exciting to be announcing an extension to such a successful partnership. FC Barcelona are truly one of giants of world football, we are proud to have them as part of the eFootball series now and for the next few years thanks to this renewal,” stated Naoki Morita, Konami Digital Entertainment B.V.’s European President.
“To have secured a bright future that will include a multitude of commercial, image, and esports rights and activations is fantastic for Konami and for the eFootball series. We endeavour to keep evolving our product to bring the best user experience possible.”
Juli Guiu, FC Barcelona Vice President for Marketing, added: “We are very pleased to renew our agreement with Konami, a company that over the years has always demonstrated its commitment to FC Barcelona.
“Konami is a benchmark in the video game sector and will help us to forge new synergies with young audiences and to continue to explore possibilities in the realm of digital entertainment, a key sector for the expansion of our brand in the coming years.”
