Best hammers in Dragon’s Dogma 2 for Warriors
The best hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Cinderspine, a flaming mace that can deal fire damage to enemies. Don’t expect vendors to pack this one, though. Fortunately, the early game Steel Urchin and mid-game Eyecrusher can be purchased at vendors. So while you should be able to get through most of the game without any hiccups, the true ending’s Unmoored World may pose a challenge. Get a rare hammer by finding it in a chest to even the odds in New Game Plus. And with that, let’s get to our top hammer picks and why we recommend them.
3 – Steel Urchin, the best early-game hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Strength: 103
- Magick: 0
- Slash Strength: 0
- Strike Strength: 100
- Knockdown Power: 236
This is one of the earliest hammers you can get in the game. Right after unlocking the Warrior vocation, you should be able to pick this up for a measly 6300 Gold. While it might not be as strong as some of the weapons you’ll come across later, it’s great against all kinds of enemies.
2 – Eyecrusher, the best mid-game hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Strength: 180
- Magick: 0
- Slash Strength: 0
- Strike Strength: 100
- Knockdown Power: 300
The Eyecrusher is a noticeable upgrade over the Steel Urchin. With upgrades at the blacksmith, it should be able to comfortably carry you through Dragon’s Dogma 2. It’s also the most powerful hammer you can acquire at a vendor. The hammers above this one need to be found in the open world. This rewards completionists and players looking to get the very best gear in the game.
1 – Cinderspine, the best endgame hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2
- Strength: 300
- Magick: 210
- Slash Strength: 0
- Strike Strength: 100
- Knockdown Power: 372
Cinderspine handily tops our list and can be found in the Mountain Base cave. It deals fire damage in addition to the regular physical damage, making it great against Griffins and other foes weak to fire. Just remember that you need to find this weapon as you can’t simply purchase it.

Black Matter is a lethal hammer that can only be found in the open world. Vendors won’t sell this item. Head to the Ancient Battleground marked on the map above Checkpoint Rest Town. You can check your map and spot its name near a cave icon if you’re in the right spot. Here, keep going north until you find a castle. Get to the castle’s top after climbing some rocks to find a chest. It’ll contain the Black Matter hammer.
How to get Cyclopean Thunder hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2
You can get this lethal item on a bridge near the Volcanic Island Camp in the game. This bridge is between the Volcanic Island Camp and the Excavation site. Reaching the edge of the ruined bridge in the marked spot can be a challenge. Consider switching to the Mage and using the Levitate ability to get to the chest safely. This hammer deals extra lightning damage and is well worth the hunt.
How to get Cinderspine hammer in Dragon’s Dogma 2
This incredible hammer can be found in the Agamen Volcanic Island’s Mountain Base cave. You’ll be able to access this area after finishing the Guardian Gigantus quest. You can also cross through Drabnir’s Grotto if you want to get here before the storyline gets you there. The Mountain Base cave is to the west of the Excavation site but it’s better to get here by moving south from the Volcanic Island camp. It’s a network of tunnels with enemies like sludges and rattlers. There’s an open area at the end that you’ll reach by getting to the second floor of the cave and jumping forward. A chest at the end will contain Cinderspire, a mace that deals fire and physical damage.
