Is Disney Speedstorm free-to-play?
Yes, Disney Speedstorm is a free-to-play game. You do not need to pay to play the game when it fully releases. However, during its early access period, the game must be bought to be accessed in one of its three Founder’s Pack bundles. It also features an in-game shop, battle pass, and more for those that want paid-for premium content.
Like many other free-to-play titles, Disney Speedstorm has a battle pass called the Golden Pass. Purchasing the battle pass unlocks various items like victory animations, shards to unlock playable racers and support crew members, various upgrade materials for your racers, and more. There is also an in-game shop where you can purchase in-game currencies to buy content and loot boxes. Those loot boxes have shards for various racers and crew members.
As you might know, when you first start Disney Speedstorm, you will not have access to all playable racers. You will start with Mickey Mouse and can unlock more by gaining their racer shards through taking part in races. You can then improve character stats by getting upgrade materials for completing races. You can still access a lot of the content in the game without putting money into the store, but if you want it faster, Disney Speedstorm requires payments.
