Fans of dystopian RPGs are wondering, when is the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0 release time? CD Projekt Red are giving the RPG a refresh ahead of the Phantom Liberty expansion. This week will see the two year old game given a new lease of life – and we’re here to tell you exactly when you can expect it to drop.
While the Phantom Liberty expansion release date isn’t until a week after this patch, a huge swarth of changes are coming to the main game, which will bring about some of the improvements of the expansion free of charge. While you’ll still have to open your wallet to experience the Idris Elba starring story, you’ll be able to benefit from some of the other improvements without the expansion thanks to Update 2.0. Cyberpunk 2077 update 2 release time prediction
The Cyberpunk 2077 update 2 release time will likely be at 8 AM PT / 11 AM ET / 4 PM BST. Developer CD Projekt Red has declared it’ll be holding a new RedStreams livestream on its official Twitch channel to show off the new patch on the day of launch, at 4pm CEST/3pm BST – the game’s community manager, Amelia Kolat, confirmed via her Twitter account that the patch is aiming to be released “close to the end of the stream” – which lines up with our predicted time.
It is worth noting, though, that CD Projekt Red hasn’t strictly kept a consistent schedule regarding release times for their updates, and allowing for any technical issues that may arise just before the patch deploys, meaning this may still change. Nevertheless, we will update this page with additional details once the developers have provided them, so we recommend checking back periodically.
Unfortunately, it does not look like the patch will also apply to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of Cyberpunk 2077. During the 2.0 patch reveal back at Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, the developer said the patch would be available on ‘Current gen consoles and PC’ – and CD Projekt Red’s support website claims that “after Patch 1.6 all further new content updates and improvements for Cyberpunk 2077 will be made exclusively for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 update 2 release date has confirmed to arrive on September 21, 2023, for the PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC versions . This is exactly five days before the launch of Phantom Liberty, which was confirmed through a post from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account.
What is in Cyberpunk 2077 update 2?
These are the following changes you can expect with the game’s next significant update:
- Redesigned skill trees and perks
- Revamped cyberware and new capacity system
- Vehicle combat and car chases
- Combat AI improvements
- New police system
- UI and UX improvements
- Loot, items, and crafting changes
- New radio stations (including Community Radio Station Growl FM)
