In Marvel Rivals, mastering the art of communication is as important as landing a perfect combo, and players have crafted a colourful slang glossary to keep up with the game’s lightning-fast superhero clashes. From seasoned pros to newer players, everyone’s decoding terms that can swing a match from epic win to total wipeout in seconds.

This ever-shifting lingo isn’t just for show, rather it’s the glue that ties teams together, turning complex strategies into snappy callouts that resonate across the battlefield. And now, with the latest patch, the devs at NetEase have tossed in a wild card word that has players questioning its real meaning: Bussing. If you’re as confused as everyone else about what “bussing” means in Marvel Rivals, we’ve got you covered.

What does Bussing mean?

Bussing is a term used in video games to describe when stronger players carry their weaker teammates to victory, much like a bus driver gets his passengers where they need to go. A strong player may join forces with a weaker one to get an advantage in a ranked or competitive game that they would not have been able to achieve on their own.

In MMOs like Lost Ark, bussing occurs when an experienced player takes care of a raid so that lower-level players can easily loot it. Shooters and MOBAs like Overwatch have pros supporting friends with lower ranks. Some regard it as cooperation, while others see it as cheating the system.

However, in Marvel Rivals, the word Bussing has taken a darker approach. When players knowingly join forces with cheaters (such as aimbot users) to get an unfair edge, they are engaging in more than merely carrying. Thus, Bussing became a parameter for reporting a player that was added by NetEase, and is directed to a user who takes help or is the activator of such exploits to level up in the game, rather than skill-based assistance. Players on social media first equated it with conventional carrying, but according to the devs, the focus is on hacking exploits rather than dominating the opponent with a higher-skilled player.

On the other hand, Bussing can also be used for a highly skilled player who volunteers to carry others but constantly belittles, berates, or criticizes their teammates along the way. They may overly criticize faults, use insulting language, or maintain an aristocratic and condescending attitude, making the experience unpleasant and uncomfortable for the individuals being carried.

How to report a Marvel Rivals player for Bussing

If you suspect an enemy player or even your teammate is taking the help of a cheater in the lobby to gain advantage, or using unpleasant language with your team while he’s carrying you, all of this can be categorized into Negative Behavior and Bussing. You can report a player for Bussing mid-game by hitting Esc, and then clicking on Report Player.

From there, click the exclamation mark icon next to the player you’d like to report. Once you do so, the Report Player menu will open up. Inside there, click on Negative Behavior and then Next. On the page that follows, you’ll see Bussing as an option. Check the box next to Bussing and click on Next to submit the report after a confirmation.

After you’re done reporting a player for Bussing, NetEase will send you an in-game mail once that player has been banned from playing or the penalty they will face as consequences. Now that you know what Bussing is, keep a watch on your team and play on the safe side of Marvel Rivals.
