One of Balatro’s best features is the huge amount of decks you can build and run with. While the starter decks are fairly simple, late-game decks can get really complex. One of them, the Plasma Deck, is a fierce competitor when weighing up the best decks in the game, and here’s how to unlock it and use it.
The reason you’re going to want to unlock the Plasma Deck is thanks to its ability to “Balance Chips and Mult.”
How to unlock the Plasma Deck in Balatro
In order to unlock the Plasma Deck in Balatro, you’re going to need to “Win a run with any deck on the Blue Stake difficulty or harder,” which isn’t too much of a hard ask. Since you don’t instantly have access to the Blue Stake Difficulty, you’re just going to need to grind runs through preceding difficulty levels until you do.
How to use the Plasma Deck in Balatro
In terms of using the Plasma Deck in Balatro, you’re going to want to focus on stockpiling chips early on in the game. The alternative, building Mult Bonuses, is a little harder to focus on.
There are certain Jokers in the game that will give you significant chip boosts, so you’re going to want to consider these. Banner is one of them.
As you close in on the late-game, it’s time to start building Mult Bonuses. You’re going to want to construct a high-level hand that is empowered by a combination of Mult Generator Jokers and Mult Multipliers.
What does the Plasma Deck do?
Effectively, the Plasma Deck is going to allow you “Balance Chips and Mult when calculating score for played hand. x2 base Blind size.”
This allows you to combo huge multipliers over your opponent as your total Chips and total Mult are averaged. For instance, if your normal Hand score would be 70 * 5 = 350, then your Plasma Deck hand score would be 1400+.
The Plasma Deck isn’t easy to use
While it sounds good, the Plasma Deck isn’t easy to use by any means. The benefits are counterbalanced well with the deck’s drawbacks. Be prepared to play with a doubled Blind size.
The Plasma Deck is totally worth giving a go if you can unlock it. It’s an incredibly powerful deck with the capacity to stomp your opponent very fast in the late game. The drawback is that it’s painfully difficult to use in the early game.
