Focus Entertainment’s ARPG Atlas Fallen was originally announced at Gamescom 2022 to a lot of attention, and the studio has been hard at work since working to polish it up for launch. We’re going to go through the Atlas Fallen release date, as well as taking a look at what we know about the game’s story, gameplay, and the trailers we’ve seen so far.
When does Atlas Fallen release?
Atlas Fallen has been released on August 9, 2023. The game was initially set for a 16 May, 2023, release before developer Focus Entertainment was forced to delay it. A tweet from the company cited a need for a bit more time in order to ensure the game is a ‘memorable ARPG experience.’
What consoles will Atlas Fallen be on?
Atlas Fallen is available on PC through Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S with a simultaneous day-one release.
Atlas Fallen story
Atlas Fallen is set in a sort of sandy, post-apocalyptic medieval fantasy world filled with giant monsters. Using magic, players will create sand-based weaponry to take down these corrupted gods. Unfortunately, aside from the game’s setting, we don’t know too much about the actual story. Hopefully, as we get closer to the game’s release date, we’ll hear more about what we can expect from the story and where it will take us.
Atlas Fallen gameplay
Atlas Fallen is a largely combat-focused game, which will see players take on giant god-like creatures using a combination of magic and sand-infused weaponry. The combat takes on a hack-and-slash approach reminiscent of the likes of Bayonetta and Devil May Cry.
Using sand is a core concept in the game, and sandy areas are plentiful throughout the world. You will be able to infuse sand into shape-shifting weapons, giving you a wealth of options in combat. Sand also appears to be key to movement, with players able to glide or slide across to move around quickly.
The game also incorporates plenty of the usual RPG elements you would expect, with different stats to level up as well as weapons and armour to increase your character’s combat capabilities. You’ll also be able to play the entire game in co-op if you’re looking to tackle it with a friend.
Atlas Fallen trailers
The announcement trailer for Atlas Fallen was shown at Gamescom 2022 and gave an introduction to the game’s world, your character’s powers and weapons, and some of the monsters you’ll come up against throughout the game. While it starts off cinematic, there’s plenty of combat-focused gameplay shown off in the latter half.
In March 2023, we got another short look at the game with a gameplay reveal trailer. We get a bit of a better look at some of the movement mechanics, but again this trailer is largely focused on combat, showcasing some more of your character’s powers.
The game’s most recent trailer delves deeper into some of the game’s mechanics, such as character creation, the RPG elements, and a deeper explanation of the character’s powers, and the different types of monsters you’ll find. There are also a few small teasers for the game’s story, some of the areas to explore and rewards and secrets that are available there.
That’s everything you need to know about the Atlas Fallen release date, and what we know about the game in the run-up to its release. It’s not the only game with a release date coming up, though, so if you’re all about the RPGs, then you’ll want to make sure you’re ready for the Baldur’s Gate 3 release date. And if mechs are more your style, then make sure you’re prepared for the Armored Core 6 release date, too.
